Red Storm halt skid with defensive-led win over visiting Butler.

St. John's 76, Butler 38  
The Red Storm scored a wire-to-wire win over visiting Butler on Friday night to halt a three-game skid in emphatic fashion. Qadashah Hoppie led all scorers with 16 points, including a 4-of-8 mark from deep, as the Johnnies shot over 55 percent from the field on the night while holding the Bulldogs to a 24-percent clip. Defense was the story for St. John’s, holding the BIG EAST’s No. 2 scorer Whitney Jennings to just seven points and No. 2 rebounder Tori Schickel to just four boards. Kristen Spolyar led Butler with 12 points. The Red Storm win the season series with the Bulldogs, 2-0.

Seton Hall 58, Xavier 53  
The Hall got a game-high 17 points from Inja Butina and rallied from seven down in the second half to pick up its fourth victory in its last five games. The Pirates led by eight at the half, but saw Xavier score 15 of the first 16 points in the third quarter to build a 39-32 with 3:18 to go in the frame. Seton Hall clawed back in as XU led 43-42 entering the fourth and outscored the Musketeers 16-10 in the final frame to clinch the win. Jada Byrd led XU with 13 points. With the win, the Pirates claim the season series over the Musketeers.

RV/RV Marquette 94, Providence 61  
The first-place Golden Eagles posted their highest scoring output since Dec. 30, highlighted by 28 points from Isabelle Spingola. Spingola made 7-of-10 from deep to lead the offensive charge which led wire-to-wire and included a 60-percent team shooting clip. Allazia Blockton also reached the 20-point mark for MU, while the Friars were led by Jovana Nogic’s 18. The win gives Marquette the season series over the Friars.

NR/RV DePaul 77, Creighton 67  
First-place DePaul scored its sixth win in the last seven outings  by using a decisive run between the second and third quarters to fend off visiting Creighton. Trailing by one with 5:59 left in the second quarter, the Blue Demons went on an 11-0 spurt which lasted until the 8:31 mark of the third. DePaul maintained an advantage the rest of the way, with the Bluejays getting as close as four with 3:30 left in the contest. Mart’e Grays scored 25 for DePaul, while reigning BIG EAST Player of the Week Sydney Lamberty posted 14 points, five assists and four boards for Creighton.  The win gives DePaul the season series with the Bluejays.
