NEW YORK – The ninth episode of the fourth season of
This Week In The BIG EAST Radio Show, distributed by Westwood One, dropped Thursday night. This week’s featured guests included: BIG EAST Commissioner Val Ackerman, St. John’s head coach Chris Mullin and Xavier’s all-time scorer and radio analyst Byron Larkin.
The 2017-18 season of This Week In The BIG EAST is available for download on iTunes, Google Play and Stitcher in addition to its Westwood One Distribution. The show airs on two
Sirius XM stations as ESPNU radio has been added in addition to the Sports PXP station. The show will run on Saturday at 6 a.m. ET on ESPNU Radio (Sirius XM Channel 84). Additionally, the show will run on Sirius Sports PXP on Saturday at 11 a.m. (Sirius 108/XM 201 and App Channel 961).
The hosts for This Week In The BIG EAST (#TWITBE) are John Rooke, a longtime BIG EAST play-by-play voice for 30 years, and Kevin McNamara, who has covered the BIG EAST for 28 seasons at the
Providence Journal and is a columnist for
Basketball Times. Rooke and McNamara give a comprehensive look at the teams, coaches, players and storied tradition of the top basketball conference in America in each episode.
The #MarchToMSG is nearly complete as BIG EAST league play comes to a close on Saturday. No tournament seeds are set going into the regular-season finale, but one thing is known, Xavier has clinched at least a share of the title. For the last episode before the tournament begins, Rooke and McNamara bring in BIG EAST Commissioner Ackerman for the BIG EAST Focus. Ackerman gives her insight on the excitement of the regular season and if that will carry over to next week’s tournament at Madison Square Garden. The BIG EAST Spotlight shines on St. John’s head coach Chris Mullin who talks about the Red Storm’s resurgence in February after a slow start in conference play, The National Perspective comes from Xavier’s all-time scorer and radio analyst Byron Larkin. Larkin gives an update on the current first-place Musketeers as they look to secure a No. 1 seed in the tournament with a win over DePaul on Saturday.
The episode’s “Who’s Hot” segment features audio clips from some recent big performances around the league and a recap of the league’s weekly honors. “Who’s got next?” takes a look at the upcoming schedule, highlighting the big matchups.
