Temple’s Maryn Lowell, reigning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, tabbed with the IWLCA honor.

BIG EAST Notes - 3.22.18
National Defensive Player of the Week

One day after being named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive installment, Temple sophomore goalkeeper Maryn Lowell was named the National Defensive Player of the Week by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Lowell made 12 saves in the Owls' only game of the week, a 10-9 upset of then-No. 22/16 Denver on March 18. She totaled six saves in each half and made her final save with 20 seconds left to prevent a possible overtime. Lowell also added two ground balls to go with her .571 save percentage, and 9.00 goals against average. No. 1 Stony Brook’s Kylie Ohlmiller earned the offensive honor with 18 points over two games for the Seawolves.

In The Polls
For the third straight week, three BIG EAST teams are ranked. Florida continues to lead the pack at No. 6 in both the IWLCA Coaches Poll and Inside Lacrosse media poll. Denver fell out of the media poll top 20, but continued to receive votes, while dropping one spot to No. 23 in the IWLCA top 25. Georgetown improved one spot in the IWLCA top 25 to No. 24, and continued to receive votes in the media poll for a third straight week.

Last Night In #BIGEASTwlax – No. 14/14 Towson 14, No. 6/6 Florida 11
A quick 3-0 lead to open Wednesday night's tilt was not enough to sustain Florida (6-3, 1-0), as the Gators suffered a 14-11 defeat at the hands of No. 14 Towson (6-2). The Tigers utilized a 13-2 run beginning at the 15:02 mark in the first half, which lasted over 33 minutes of game time, to take control of the Top-15 affair. The 13-5 deficit faced by Florida with 12:11 left in the second half tied its largest of the season. The Gators were sparked by a Sydney Pirreca free position goal with 11:29 remaining in the game, and closed the game on a 6-1 run before running out of time just three goals behind the Tigers.

All 10 teams return to the field this weekend for BIG EAST action, including four games on Saturday. All four Saturday tilts begin at noon ET, including the Gators at the Hoyas which will air on FOX College Sports Atlantic.
