CHICAGO – The second installment of the BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament Final featuring Marquette and DePaul is set for Tuesday at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena after both squads won their respective Semifinal contests. The top-seeded Golden Eagles edged fourth-seeded Creighton, 76-70, while the second-seeded Blue Demons avenged an upset-minded sixth-seeded Georgetown squad, 85-53. Marquette and DePaul meet in the tourney final for a second straight year after the Golden Eagles claimed their first BIG EAST Tournament crown in 2017 on their home court at the Al McGuire Center, 86-78. Tuesday’s championship game is set for 6 p.m. CT and will air on FS1. The teams split their regular-season meetings this year, each winning on their respective home courts.
No. 1 Marquette 76, No. 4 Creighton 70
Allazia Blockton scored a career-high 32 points but her biggest play came in the final moments of Monday’s semifinals against Creighton. With Marquette clinging to a shaky four-point edge and Creighton with the ball, Blockton picked off a pass and bolted downcourt for a layup and a 74-68 lead with 18 seconds left in regulation. It helped the top seed Golden Eagles lock down a 76-70 victory at Wintrust Arena and clinched a berth in the championship game for the second straight year. Blockton, the BIG EAST Player of the Year, also had 11 rebounds as Marquette (23-8) won its seventh straight. Amani Wilborn scored 16 points while Danielle King added 12 for the winners. Audrey Faber paced the No. 4 seed Bluejays (18-12) with 20 points. Jaylyn Agnew had 15 and Olivia Elger added 12.

No. 2 DePaul 85, No. 6 Georgetown 53
The second seed Blue Demons (25-7) dominated in the paint and beyond the arc throughout Monday’s semifinal game on the way to an 85-53 victory over the No. 6 seed Hoyas. For the game, DePaul shot 48.5 percent (33-of-68), collected 44 points inside, 30 more on 3-pointers and out rebounded Georgetown 51-39. The Hoyas managed 29.2 percent shooting (19-of-65). Ashton Millender led a balanced DePaul attack with 15 points, Amarah Coleman had 13 while Kelly Campbell and Chante Stonewall had 11 and 10 points, respectively. Campbell also pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to record her ninth double-double of the season. Cynthia Petke topped Georgetown (15-15) with 10 points and eight rebounds. DePaul returns to the title game for the fourth time in five years, eyeing its third crown and first since 2015.
