Hitting the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center courts for the first time during the 2018 BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championship, presented by Jeep, four teams survived to compete in Saturday's semifinal matches.

No. 1 DePaul wasted no time against No. 8 Villanova as Tripp Tuff and Christopher Casati bested Tommy Mulflur and Matt Phelps, 6-1, while Alex Galoustian and Boris Spanjaard clinched the doubles point over Will Elmore and Stefan Suarez, 6-3.

In singles action, courts six, five and one finished in straight-set victories, favoring the Blue Demons, with Luuk Wassenaar, Tamas Zador and Boris Spanjaard securing the 4-1 victory.

Tied in the doubles portion of play, Dusan Vukicevic and Alex Roszkowski clinched the doubles point for No. 2 St. John's over No. 7 Xavier.

The Musketeers opened singles play with a win at the No. 5 position, when Connor LaFavre took down Daniel Skripnik 6-3, 6-0, but were unable to take a lead as the Johnnies closed out the match with wins at No. 4, 3 and 1 singles.

Friday's slate of competition concluded with a pair of 4:30 p.m. ET matchups with a spot in the semifinals on the line.

No. 6 Creighton looked to upset No. 3 Marquette after taking a 1-0 advantage into singles play.

Playing from behind, the Golden Eagles secured four straight-set victories to seal the match and set up Saturday's contest against No. 2 St. John's. The contest is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.

In the 4-5 match, Butler picked up a win in doubles play after Aviv Ben Shabat and Mason Dragos bested Peter Beatty and Mac Rechan 6-4 and Spencer Lang and Michael Dickson defeated Marco Lam and Charlie Sharton 6-4.

Picking up a win at No. 3 singles, Michael Dickson quickly pushed the Butler advantage to 2-0.

Georgetown grabbed its first point of the match when Michael Chen defeated Adrian Mag at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-2, before Butler pushed its lead back to two when Mason Dragos picked up a win at No. 1 singles.

Trailing 3-1, the Hoyas began to claw their way back picking up straight-set victories at No. 2 and 4 singles, turning all eyes to court six.

Facing match-point, 4-6, 6-1, 3-5, Ari Gerstein of Butler battled back to even the set at five-apiece. Georgetown's Charlie Sharton picked up the next game to reach match point for the second-time before closing out the match and securing a spot in the semifinals for the Hoyas. GU will battle No. 1 DePaul Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
