MASON, Ohio  –  Day three of the 2018 BIG EAST Baseball Championship Presented by Jeep gives fans a rematch of Thursday’s 13-inning pitcher dual between No. 2 Seton Hall and No. 3 Butler. The winner moves on to play top-seeded St. John’s in Sunday’s Championship, and the loser goes home. Saturday’s game was moved up to 1 p.m.  ET due to potential weather in the area.
 
John Fanta and Matt Schumacker will be on the call at Prasco Park, with Mike Schmaltz in the dugout. Saturday’s elimination game will air on BIG EAST Digital Network Presented by SoFi.
 
In Friday’s doubleheader, No. 2 Seton Hall knocked out No. 4 Georgetown with a tournament record 21 runs (21-5). St. John’s moved on to Championship Sunday with a 12-8 win over No. 3 Butler. A combined 46 runs were scored on Friday.
 
The winner of the double elimination tournament will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship field.

Why We’re Watching:
Butler and Seton Hall met in an epic showdown on Thursday night on in the second-longest inning game in BIG EAST Tournament history. Tied at 1-1 through 11 innings, Butler (34-18) designated hitter James Gargano scored the winning run on a two-out single from BIG EAST First Team shortstop Michael Hartnagel. It was Butler’s first postseason win since 2009. The two evenly matched team were deadlocked at 1-1 heading into the 13th inning. Butler is coming off a 12-8 loss to No. 1 seed St. John’s in Friday’s night game. The Bulldogs scored six runs in the seventh and ninth innings. Seton Hall defeated Georgetown 21-8, marking their first BIG EAST Tournament win since 2015. A trip to Championship Sunday would be the first for the Pirates since 2011. Seton Hall won that tournament, 4-2 over St. John’s.
