Villanova, Pa. -- The No. 17/18 Hoyas earned their 11th win of the season, the most since 2007, with their second win of the year over the No. 12/14 Wildcats. The Hoyas, the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Championship presented by Jeep advanced to Championship Saturday for the first time since 2015.

Georgetown will play top seed Denver on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET on CBSSN. These two teams met in the 2015 BIG EAST Championship game, the last time it was held at Villanova Stadium.

Craig Berge led Georgetown (11-4) with four goals and an assist while Lucas Wittenberg added a goal and three assists. In goal, BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year Nick Marrocco posted his second double-digit save performance against Villanova this season. He stopped 12 Wildcat shots on the day and shut VU out in the third quarter.

Georgetown held onto the lead despite a three-goal 55-second run by Villanova to cut the Hoyas lead to one, 11-10 with just three minutes left to play. The Hoyas netted two insurance goals scored by Robert Clarke on a extra-man opportunity and Berge.

Peter Tagliaferri was dominant at the 'X', winning 19-of-24 (.791) faceoffs on the day. He posted clean sheets in both the first and third quarters and led all players with 10 ground balls.

For Villanova (10-5), ranked No. 12/14 in the country and host of the 2018 BIG EAST Championship, Christian Cuccinello had a team-best five points on three goals and two assists. Michael Toomey collected 10 saves in goal in the loss.
