QUEENS, N.Y.  – After leading the Red Storm to its third 40-win season during his tenure with the team, John Valente has been named a Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American.

Valente is the second member of the Red Storm in the past three years to be honored as a Senior CLASS Award All-American, joining Tom Hackimer, who garnered the distinction in 2016.

Valente recently completed one of the most storied careers in the history of the St. John’s baseball program, wrapping up a four-year tenure that saw him bat .353 and rack up 218 hits.  Both of those totals rank in the top 13 in school history.

As a graduate student in 2018, Valente became the first Johnnie in program history to be named the BIG EAST Player of the Year after hitting .360 with five home runs and 40 RBIs.  The New Rochelle native also garnered First Team All-BIG EAST honors in 2017 by hitting .375 and leading the Red Storm to 42 victories.

In the classroom, Valente turned in a perfect 4.0 GPA while pursuing his masters degree in international communications.
