In The Polls

BIG EAST teams continued to climb the United Soccer Coaches Poll this week. No. 25 Butler, which had been receiving votes, broke into the top-25 for the first time since Oct. 31, 2017, while No. 11 Georgetown climbed four slots for its highest ranking since coming in at No. 10 on Aug. 29, 2017. The Bulldogs earned an impressive 4-1 win over then-No. 20 Notre Dame on Sunday to improve to 3-0-0 on the year, while the Hoyas played to a double-overtime scoreless draw with then-No. 11 Duke on Thursday before topping Yale (3-1) on Sunday to remain unbeaten (2-0-2) on the season. In the East Regional rankings, Georgetown and Butler rank first and second, respectively, while undefeated Providence (3-0-0) landed in fifth. The Friars will have the opportunity to join the top-25 poll conversation when they face No. 3 North Carolina (Thursday, 5 p.m. ET) and No. 12 Duke (Sunday, 2:30 p.m.) this week. Marquette, which received votes in the regional poll along with Villanova, will also face the Tar Heels and Blue Devils this week in Durham, N.C.
