Liberty’s Agueda Moroni Named Longstreth/NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week

Connecticut’s Karo Kueskes earns honorable mention from the national entity.

NEW YORK – BIG EAST Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week Agueda Moroni of Liberty was named the National Field Hockey Coaches’ Association’s Longstreth Division I National Player of the Week, as announced by the organization on Wednesday. Additionally, the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honoree, Connecticut’s Karo Kueskes, earned an honorable mention by the national organization.
 
This weekend, Moroni, a senior midfielder/forward, tallied 11 points as No. 23 Liberty faced two top-25 opponents. The Flames’ senior scored a hat trick and assisted on two other goals in Liberty’s decisive win over James Madison (No. 17), she also netted a goal and an assist in Liberty’s 3-2 overtime loss to Duke (No. 3) this past Sunday.
 
Moroni shares the national honor with Ally Hammel, a senior defender from Boston University, who was named this week’s Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Kueskes scored three times this weekend and assisted one goal as No. 1 Connecticut began their season undefeated. She leads the Huskies with seven points. Connecticut defeated No. 12 Northwestern and No. 15 Stanford as the freshman defender helped hold UConn’s opponents to just two combined goals.
