No. 10 Georgetown, Providence pick up overtime wins in 4-1-2 night for BIG EAST teams.

WSOC Notes - 9.14 Update

#10 Georgetown 2, #25 Princeton 1 (OT)

Kyra Carusa buried a penalty kick in the 93rd minute to keep the nationally ranked Hoyas unbeaten (6-0-2) on the season. Caitlin Farrell scored her fourth goal of the season to get GU on the board in the first half before the host Tigers scored the equalizer in the 68th. Georgetown had the lone shot in the overtime period before Farrell drew the fouls which resulted in the penalty kick. Arielle Schechtman made two saves in the win.

Providence 2, Drexel 1 (OT)
Hannah McNulty scored just 1:38 into the first overtime to send the Providence to a 2-1 victory over Drexel on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. McNulty scored both goals in the win as the Friars (6-2-0) rallied from a 1-0 first-half deficit to score their third consecutive win. McNulty now has six goals on the year, tied with St. John’s Zsani Kajan for the BIG EAST lead. Shelby Hogan finished with five saves.

DePaul 1, Bowling Green 1 (2OT)
It wasn't until the 77th minute that the back and forth game would see a goal from either team. Erica Hubert, Falcons redshirt senior midfielder, put her team up by one with just 12 minutes remaining in the game. Things started to not look good for the Blue Demons (4-2-2) until the 88th minute when freshman midfielder Mary Tierney headed the ball past the goalkeeper's hands off a cross from Jade Eriksen-Russo on the left side of the field for the equalizer and sent the game into overtime. Reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Mollie Eriksson finished with three saves.

UMass Lowell 1, Seton Hall 1 (2OT)
Cassy Harrigan scored on a beautiful strike early in the second half, but UMass Lowell tallied a late equalizer as the Seton Hall women's soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw at Owen T. Carroll Field. Seton Hall (2-3-2) had the overwhelming majority of possession and quality chances, as it held a 15-13 edge in shots, and 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Anna MacLean finished with five saves and played all 110 minutes.

Xavier 2, Dayton 0
Samantha Dewey's third tally of the season was her second game-winner, helping the Musketeers to a 2-0 win at Dayton on Thursday night. Xavier (5-4-0) posted its fourth straight shut-out win in the final road game of the non-conference schedule. The Musketeers and Flyers went into the break in a scoreless draw, but Dewey broke the tie shortly after halftime on an assist from Sydney Schembri. In the closing seconds of the game, an own goal from UD set the final margin at 2-0 in favor of the Musketeers

Villanova 1, Saint Joseph’s 0
Chloe O’Neill scored the game’s lone goal in the 31st minute, taking a feed from Bri Austin for her third score of the season. Rebecca Gartner made six saves for the Wildcats (5-3-0), who were outshot 13-10 by their rivals from Saint Joseph’s. One of the biggest plays of the game came in the 85th minute on a defensive save from Niki Molina. The ball was headed in the left side of the net before she made an incredible save to deflect the ball wide left.

Baylor 2, #23 Butler 0
No. 23 Butler lost a hard-fought battle at Baylor Thursday night, 2-0. The Bulldogs move to 6-2-0 on the season. The Bears used a goal late in the first half and early in the second half to overpower the Bulldogs. This is just the second game all season that Butler has been shutout, and the first game that Butler has conceded two goals. Hannah Luedtke made three saves in the first half before Leonie Doege took over for the final 45 minutes and made one save.
