Providence freshman Mary Baskerville claims third weekly honor after averaging 13.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and .667 shooting for the Friars.

BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Player Of the Week
Shadeen Samuels, Seton Hall, Jr., F
Samuels led the Pirates to a 2-0 week with wins over Creighton and Providence by averaging 25.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and .541 shooting. The junior scored a career-high 32 points against the Bluejays on Friday to halt Creighton’s five-game winning streak in the series. She posted her third consecutive double-double on Sunday with 19 points and 10 boards against the Friars as The Hall improved to 9-0 at Walsh Gym this season. Samuels is Seton Hall’s first BIG EAST Player of the Week since Nov.13, 2017.

Mary Baskerville, Providence, Fr., F
Baskerville claims her third honor in four weeks after averaging 13.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and .667 shooting in a 1-1 road week for the Friars. Baskerville led Providence to its third consecutive win over St. John’s on Friday with 14 points and 10 boards, her second double-double of the year, before going for 13 points and three rebounds in a single-digit setback at Seton Hall on Sunday. Baskerville was the BIG EAST’s top scoring and rebounding rookie last week, while ranking second among all league players in shooting percentage and blocks. She is the first Friar to three-peat as BIG EAST Freshman of the Week since Kerri Chatten in 1994-95.
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Dorothy Adomako, Georgetown, Grad., G
Adomako posted back-to-back game highs against preseason co-favorites No. 15/14 Marquette and RV/RV DePaul to finish as the BIG EAST’s No. 2 scorer last week. She averaged 22.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and .607 shooting, going for 24 points against the Blue Demons and 21 against the Golden Eagles.
Temi Carda, Creighton, So., G
Carda averaged 19.5 points off 50-percent shooting, including a 4-of-10 clip from deep, as Creighton went 1-1 in a road swing over the weekend. She scored 17 points and added four boards and three assists at Seton Hall on Friday before going for a game-high 22 points off 9-of-13 shooting in Sunday’s comeback win at St. John’s.
Mart’e Grays, DePaul, Sr., F
Grays led the Blue Demons to back-to-back come-from-behind road victories last weekend, averaging 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals.  She posted her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 boards at Villanova on Sunday after going for 22 points off 9-of-16 shooting in Friday’s win at Georgetown.
Natisha Hiedeman, Marquette, Sr., G
The nationally ranked Golden Eagles posted a 2-0 road weekend as Hiedeman averaged 22.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in wins at Villanova and Georgetown. She’s now led Marquette in scoring in six consecutive games and has taken over the conference scoring lead at 17.8 per game on the year, including 23.4 points per game in BIG EAST play.
Whitney Jennings, Butler, Sr., G
Jennings led the Bulldogs to their ninth consecutive win by scoring 20 points, including a 4-of-6 clip from deep, in Butler’s victory at Xavier on Friday night. The senior added four steals and four rebounds and shot 7-of-12 overall. Fourteen of Jennings’ game-high 20 came in the third quarter as Butler turned a seven-point halftime lead into a 20-point advantage.
