NEW YORK -- BIG EAST esports teams are set to kick off their spring season on Jan. 20. Those competing will participate in the BIG EAST League of Legends™ Season on six Sundays of competition over an eight-week span. The season will be powered by BIG EAST partner ESL, the world’s largest independent esports company.
Following the regular-season, the top four teams will compete for the BIG EAST League of Legends championship title on March 17 at 3 p.m. ET. The winner and runner-up will receive berths to the League of Legends College Championship Play-in, with a chance to reach the League of Legends College Championship.
The participating teams for the 2019 BIG EAST League of Legends season are Butler, DePaul, Marquette, Providence, St. John’s, Seton Hall and Villanova.
The matches are conducted online on ESL Play. Fans can follow the action live through ESL’s main League of Legends Twitch Channel www.twitch.tv/esl_lol. The matches will also be simulcast on the BIG EAST Youtube.
The BIG EAST joins the Big Ten Network, Peach Belt Conference, East Coast Conference, and the Landmark Conference, along with more than 300 other schools, and more than 80 varsity League of Legends programs, in the 2019 college League of Legends season.
