www.ticketmaster.com/bigeast.
The 2019 BIG EAST Tournament will be played March 13-16. Approaching its fourth decade in New York City, the BIG EAST Tournament is college basketball’s longest-running postseason basketball conference championship held at the same venue, dating to 1983. Last season’s 2018 BIG EAST Tournament, won by eventual national champion Villanova, was the highest attended since the league was reconfigured in 2014, as the #MarchToMSG galvanized the city and the 10 Conference member institutions. It was also the highest attended conference tournament throughout college basketball. Villanova defeated Providence 76-66 in overtime in a thrilling championship game.
The conference enjoyed record Tournament attendance last season with three of the five sessions selling out, with the ticket sell-through climbing to 97 percent. Public ticket sales for the 2019 BIG EAST Tournament will be supported by a six-month local and national multi-platform marketing campaign. The #MarchToMSG-themed campaign's media-buy features social and digital advertising, 30-second ads on local and national television, and out-of-home advertising in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. The campaign also includes in-arena and on-campus marketing by the BIG EAST schools and marketing support provided by the Conference's corporate partners.
The 2019 BIG EAST Tournament will begin on Wednesday, March 13, with a first-round doubleheader. The No. 8 seed meets the No. 9 seed at 7 p.m. ET, followed by the No. 7 seed battling the No. 10 seed in the opening night doubleheader.
Thursday’s quarterfinals will continue the BIG EAST Tournament tradition of taking over Madison Square Garden for the entire day, electrifying the metro area college basketball community, as well as those coming from across the BIG EAST map. The afternoon doubleheader features the No. 1 seed facing the winner of Wednesday’s 8-9 game, followed by a matchup of the No. 4 seed against the No. 5 seed. The evening doubleheader, which begins at 7 p.m., will pit the No. 2 seed against the winner of Wednesday’s 7-10 game, followed by the No. 3 seed against the No. 6 seed.
Friday’s semifinal night will feature a battle between the winners of Thursday’s afternoon sessions, with the first game tipping at 6:30 p.m., followed by a nightcap at 9 p.m. ET, between the winners of the Thursday’s night session.
The BIG EAST Tournament championship game will take place on Saturday evening, tipping off at 6:30 p.m. ET, featuring the two winners from Friday night, with the winner earning the league’s automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Tournament. The FOX broadcast network will televise the Championship game, with the eight preceding games to be broadcast on FS1.
