BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Michael Wyman, Providence, Grad Student, Distance (Marion, Mass.)
Grad student Michael Wyman clocked in a 4:05.77 mile victory at the Penn Eight-Team Select Challenge in Staten Island, N.Y. He pulled away in the last 250 meters to cross the line first. Wyman’s time leads the BIG EAST mile list and is 31st in the NCAA. 
 
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Terrance Howard, Marquette, Sr., Throws (Brooklyn Park, Minn.)
Marquette senior Terrance Howard won the weight throw at the John Tierney Classic with a throw of 19.12 meters. He also placed third in the shot put with a distance of 14.56 meters. His weight throw performance was a personal best for Howard and the third-best mark in Marquette history. His distance also leads the BIG EAST and is 49th nationally.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Leah Anderson, St. John’s, So., Sprints (Mount Vernon, N.Y.)
St. John’s sophomore Leah Anderson silvered twice at the Penn Eight-Team Select Challenge as she was second in the 400-meter and 200-meter races. Anderson crossed the line at 55.93 in the 400, a time which leads the BIG EAST list so far this season and ranks 65th nationally. Her 200-meter time of 24.66 ranks third in the BIG EAST.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Catherine Sherwood, Marquette, Sr., Jumps (Mount Prospect, Ill.)
Marquette senior jumper Catherine Sherwood won the long jump with a distance of 5.68 meters and placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 11.23 meters at the John Tierney Classic on Saturday. Sherwood helped earn key points for the Golden Eagles to mark a 10-point dual victory over Milwaukee at the event. Her long jump distance ranks 2nd currently on the BIG EAST leaderboard, .10 meters behind teammate Breanne Marchan. Her triple jump mark ranks 3rd in the conference.
 
Notable Performances
  • Butler’s Camille Hines won the 800-meter race at the Gladstein Invitational in a time of 2:11.40, which is third all-time at Butler, second in the BIG EAST and 50th nationally.
  • Providence’s Regan Rome won the 3,000-meter run at the Penn Eight-Team Select Challenge on Saturday with a time of 9:40.65, 16 seconds ahead of second place. Rome’s time is third in the BIG EAST but 38th nationally.
