Riley Fujioka sets the school record on 1-meter.

NEW YORK – Georgetown diver Riley Fujioka and Villanova diver Michael Perra have been chosen as this week’s BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Female and Male Athletes of the Week, respectively. Both competitors swept the 1- and 3-meter diving events at their meets during the past week.

The Hoyas fell in a close meet at Drexel, while the Wildcat men slipped up against La Salle. Providence men and women split versus Holy Cross over the weekend with the men capturing a win at home. Both Seton Hall squads defeated Monmouth on the road last week, while the Villanova women secured wins over La Salle and Richmond. Xavier women traveled to Duquesne, but eventually fell against the Dukes and visiting Ohio in double dual competition.

BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week
Riley Fujioka, Georgetown, So., Diving (Los Altos, Calif.)
Fujioka was the top finisher in both diving events versus Drexel. The sophomore set the school record on the low board with a new mark of 293.93 points, which was over 33 points ahead of second place. That score is now second-best in the league this season. She earned the diving sweep with a win on 3-meter, scoring 282.07 points. Fujioka now owns the record on boards after setting the top mark in school history on the high board last season.

BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week
Michael Perra, Villanova, Jr., Diving (Hastings, Minn.)
Perra was victorious on both boards against La Salle. His mark of 310.42 points on 1-meter was over 40 points better than second place. His score is also a season-best for Perra and more than 33 points greater than the next best score for any BIG EAST diver on the low board this season. Perra also won the 3-meter event, totaling 300.45 points. The junior already holds the top conference mark on the high board this season.
