			NEW YORK –   On Friday, BIG EAST Field Hockey will be featured on the BIG EAST Digital Network Presented by SoFi as Quinnipiac hosts Villanova at 3 p.m. at the 2019 home of the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship Presented by Jeep.

League Notes:
Huskies Remain Undefeated In League Action
Connecticut has won 35 consecutive regular-season conference contests, leading off this season with a 5-0 win over Quinnipiac, then defeating No. 22 Old Dominion, 6-2, in Week 2 and Temple, 5-0 in Week 3. The Huskies last loss in BIG EAST play was on Oct. 25, 2013 at Old Dominion. Connecticut lost 5-0. The Monarchs were ranked 10th nationally.  The Huskies were ranked No. 4.
 
RPI Report - Week 3
BIG EAST field hockey continues to hold a league RPI of 3  in the NCAA RPI report released on Oct. 6. Connecticut, ranked third in the NFHCA national rankings, ranks fourth in the RPI behind North Carolina, Maryland and Duke. Old Dominion has jumped Liberty in the RPI with a ranking of 20. The Lady Flames are 22.  Old Dominion was ranked 29th in the first RPI released this year. For the rest of the BIG EAST teams, Providence moved up nine spots to 28th, Temple is 49th, Georgetown 52nd,
 
Steady in the Polls
Connecticut, Liberty and Old Dominion hold tight to the similar positions in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) rankings this week. UConn is No. 3, Liberty went down a few notches to No. 15 and Old Dominion remained steady at No. 22. Old Dominion has been ranked 22nd for the last four weeks. Friday, No. 15 Liberty hosts No. 22 Old Dominion at Liberty Field Hockey Field. It is the second ranked matchup of the season. Connecticut defeated Old Dominion 6-2 on Sept. 27.
 
Liberty NCAA Stat Leader In Two Categories
LIberty leads Division I field hockey statistically in goals against average (0.77). The Lady Flames lone keeper, Allison Schaefer owns the statistic, as she also is the NCAA’s stat leader. Liberty has allowed just seven total goals in nine games. Four of Liberty’s seven wins have been shutouts. In 546 minutes between the pipes, Schaefer has saved 18 shots for a .720 percentage.
 
The Weekend Ahead
Quinnipiac head coach Becca Main is looking for career win No. 200 against Villanova this weekend. The Bobcats game against the Wildcats will be carried on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) presented by SoFi. https://www.caffeine.tv/Bedn) or the BIG EAST YouTube.  Quinnipiac is hosting this year’s field hockey championship. The Bobcats are 1-2 in league play this year. Villanova is 0-3 looking for their first conference win.  The Wildcats are coming off a 3-2 overtime win over Bucknell last Sunday, while Quinnipiac was shut out by then-No. 17 Boston College, 4-0. The game will be at  3 p.m. In non-league action on Sunday, Quinnipiac will play at Maine and Villanova will host La Salle. Both games are at noon.
 
Friday’s BIG EAST games start at 1 p.m. when Georgetown hosts Temple. Georgetown is 1-2 in the BIG EAST, while Temple is looking for its first W. The Hoyas defeated Villanova in the opener, 3-2. Georgetown will play at Towson on Sunday, while Temple plays at Lafayette.
 
At 3 p.m. is the clash of the ranked teams at No. 15 Liberty hosts No. 22 Old Dominion. The Monarchs are coming of fa 3-2 overtime loss to No. 8 Virginia on Sunday, while Liberty is also playing off a loss, 2-1 in overtime to No. 19 Harvard. Liberty is tied with Connecticut for the top spot in the BIG EAST standings at 3-0. For Old Dominion, the only loss they have suffered in conference play is a 6-2 loss to UConn. Liberty has a 4-2 series record over Old Dominion since the teams first met in 2-014. Last season, Liberty held ODU to six shots, just one coming in the second half and shut out the Monarchs, 2-0. Old Dominion’s last win was in 2016. The Monarchs will face No. 4 Duke on Sunday. ODU will have played four of their last five games against ranked opponents. Liberty will play at Longwood.
 
The final Friday BIG EAST match has No. 3 Connecticut hosting Providence. The Huskies just lost their second game this season at then-No. 4 Maryland, 2-0 last Sunday. Providence is riding a 2-0 winning streak going into Friday’s games. The Friars boast the current BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week in Amanda Collins and Freshman of the Week in Niamh Gowing. The Friars defeated Villanova, 3-1, and Dartmouth, 5-1, last weekend. Connecticut defeated Temple, 5-0. Providence has played five ranked teams so far this season.
