NEW YORK – Saturday night in BIG EAST volleyball featured two East Coast matches as No. 12 Marquette swept Georgetown while Villanova outlasted DePaul in a four-set match.

Week 4 of conference action wraps up on Sunday when Butler travels to Providence for a 1 p.m. ET match followed by Xavier at No. 11 Creighton with first serve set for 2 p.m.

Marquette 3, Georgetown 0 (25-15,25-10,25-17)  
No. 12 Marquette (17-3, 7-1 BIG EAST) capped off week one of its two week road swing with a 3-0 sweep of Georgetown (12-10, 2-6) on Saturday night. Marquette turned in a stellar offensive performance  as the Golden Eagles combined for a blistering .516 hitting percentage in the match, highlighted by a .611 clip in the first frame. Senior Allie Barber tallied 11 kills with no errors to hit .524 leading MU, while Hope Werch connected on nine kills, no errors and hit .600.  Freshman Hannah Vanden Berg had an efficient match with eight kills and a .636 clip. Sophomore Claire Mosher dished out 23 assists as junior Martha Konovodoff collected 11 kills. Gwyn Jones and Elizabeth Orf led the Golden Eagles at the net with three blocks apiece. Iva Vujosevic led the Hoyas with 11 kills as Jessica Cusi connected for nine digs.
 
Villanova 3, DePaul 1 (25-14,18-25,25-22,26-24)  
Villanova (14-6, 5-3) returned to the win column on Saturday night with a four-set win over visiting DePaul (10-10, 2-6). The Wildcats emerged victorious behind a balanced attack with five players recording double-digit kills. Sanaa Barnes, Mallory Potts and Clare Delaplane notched 11 kills apiece while Allie Olsonoski and Sophie Howling put down 10 kills of their own. Emma Decker paced Villanova’s offense with 47 assists on the night to reach the 4,000 career assists mark. Regan Lough led the defensive efforts for the Wildcats with a match-high 20 digs. Brittany Maxwell led the Blue Demons with 13 kills while Isabelle Banez collected 18 digs.
