NEW YORK – A shake up in the standings saw Xavier jump from fourth to second and teams inch closer to first-place and 11
th-ranked Georgetown as Week 6 wrapped up in BIG EAST women’s soccer action. The Hoyas remained unbeaten in conference play with a scoreless draw at Butler, while the Musketeers knocked off St. John’s to leapfrog the Bulldogs and Villanova in the standings. The seventh round of play is set for Thursday for all 10 teams, with all five matches streaming on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi.
Xavier 3, St. John's 0
Xavier earned its first result against St. John’s in series history as the Musketeers jumped from fourth to second in the BIG EAST standings on Sunday afternoon. Sam Dewey scored what proved to be the game winner in the eighth minute with Sydney Schembri registering the first of her two assists on the afternoon. Brooke Sroka and Maddie Thiss also scored for XU. Meredith Reinhardt had nine saves for the Red Storm. Xavier's win is the 11th of the season, the most for the program since its 12-win season in 2003. With nine shutouts, the 2019 Musketeers now match three other Xavier squads (1985, 1991, 2018) for the second most shutouts in program history.

Marquette 3, Villanova 1
Alyssa Bombacino posted her second hat trick in as many matches and Marquette defeated Villanova, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at Valley Fields for its 100th BIG EAST Conference win in program history.
Bombacino scored twice in the first half to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead at the break and scored her third of the day in the 65th minute to put MU back up a pair on the Wildcats. Villanova received a 57th minute score from Sam Rosette to pull within one. Maddy Henry made nine saves for Marquette, which was out-shot 19-14 by Villanova. VU also attempted all nine of the game's corner kicks.

#11 Georgetown 0, Butler 0 (2OT)
The Hoyas stretched their unbeaten streak to a BIG EAST-best 10 matches while the Bulldogs’ Stephanie Rodriguez earned her league-leading seventh clean sheet in a 110-minute scoreless draw in Indianapolis on Sunday. GU held a slight 11-9 edge in shots while Georgetown goalkeeper Anna Leat made five saves. Katie Soderstrom led Butler with three shots, while GU’s Paula Germino-Watnick took a game-high six strikes.

DePaul 4, Seton Hall 0
Jackie Batliner notched three assists and Morgan Turner scored a pair of goals as DePaul scored a 4-0 win over Seton Hall on Saturday. Turned scored what proved to be the game winner in the 11
th minute before an insurance goal in the 26
th. Jade Eriksen-Russo and Bina Saipi added goals as well, while Mollie Eriksson made two saves to earn the shutout. Blair Currie had four saves for The Hall while Harpa Johannsdottir had one stop. The loss eliminated the Pirates from BIG EAST postseason contention.

Providence 2, Creighton 1
Skylar Heinrich gave the Bluejays a 1-0 lead just before halftime but the Friars came out of the break on fire as Hannah McNulty scored a pair of goals less than five minutes apart to give PC the advantage. McNulty struck in the 50
th and 55
th minutes while Shelby Hogan remained steadfast in net for Providence, making a season-high 12 saves. Creighton outshot PC 25-9 and held a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks.
