NEW YORK - Week three of BIG EAST volleyball action kicked off on Wednesday night as Villanova visited St. John's and Georgetown traveled to South Orange, N.J. to take on Seton Hall. The Red Storm came away from Carnesecca Arena victorious with a 3-0 win over the Wildcats to move to 11-7 overall and 3-2 in the BIG EAST play. Seton Hall swept visiting Georgetown to improve to a 7-12 mark on the season and 2-3 in conference play.

BIG EAST action continues tomorrow with four matches as travel partners St. John's and Seton Hall visit Butler and Xavier while Providence and No. 13 Creighton will meet No. 13 Marquette and DePaul.

Villanova is set for a non-conference matchup with Big 5 foe La Salle on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Unbeaten Teams Meet Saturday Night at the Al McGuire Center

The top-two teams in the BIG EAST will meet on Saturday night as No. 13 Creighton visits No. 10 Marquette inside the Al McGuire Center, the site of the 2019 BIG EAST Volleyball Championship presented by Jeep. Saturday's match will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi, viewers can access the game via Caffeine, YouTube, or @BIGEASTChamps on Twitter. No. 13 Marquette looks to extend an eight-match win streak heading into the weekend, while Creighton enters week three winners of their last six matches. The latest RPI release saw Marquette at No. 12 while Creighton landed at No. 18. The Bluejays lead the series 13-3 including wins in the 2017 and 2018 BIG EAST Championship match. The last time Marquette secured a win over Creighton was October 5, 2017.

St. John's 3, Villanova 0 (25-18,25-23,25-18)
St. John's (11-7, 3-2 BIG EAST) took down Villanova 3-0 to snap the Wildcats three-match winning streak. Reigning BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week Efrosini Alexakou led the Red Storm with 13 kills and just two errors to hit at a .579 clip. Rachele Rastelli chipped in twelve kills, four digs, and two blocks to aid the Johnnies. Amanda Sanabia shared match-high honors with 12 digs to lead the back line. Villanova (12-4, 3-2) was led by Mallory Potts with 10 kills on .348 hitting. Regan Lough collected 12 digs to lead the Wildcats defense.

Seton Hall 3, Georgetown 0 (25-13,25-18,25-19)
Seton Hall (7-12, 2-3 BIG EAST) boasted a balanced attack in a 3-0 win over visiting Georgetown (11-8, 1-4). Haylee Gasser led the way with nine kills and four blocks, while Amanda Rachwal chipped in eight kills, three digs, and four blocs. Reece Koehler aided the Pirates hitting at a .600 clip with seven kills. Setter Maggie Cvelbar dished out 26 assists and nine digs. Elissa Barbosa led the Hoyas attack with eight kills to go along with six digs. Jessica Cusi registered a team-high nine digs.
