HAMDEN, Conn. – No. 1 seed Connecticut faces No. 2 seed Old Dominion in the 2019 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship presented by Jeep on Sunday. Winner is the tournament champion and the BIG EAST’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. The championship is being hosted by Quinnipiac University at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Field.
The NCAA committee will announce the tournament selections during the Selection Show on NCAA.com at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Connecticut (17-3) makes its 27th appearance in the BIG EAST Field Hockey championship game. Old Dominion (11-6) appears in the title game for the second time, first since 2013. Connecticut and Old Dominion played for the title game that season with the Huskies winning 1-0 in overtime. The game was played in Storrs, Conn.
The Huskies are playing for their 19th title, eighth in a row. Last year, Connecticut defeated Liberty, 5-3. Liberty has been the runner up for the last three years.
When UConn and Old Dominion met earlier this season, the Huskies won 6-2. Svea Boker scored two goals and added an assist in the win for UConn. Marie Auer, Maddy Wray, Abby Gooderham and Claire Jandewerth also scored. Erin Huffman and Riley Taylor scored for Old Dominion. ODU keeper Cam MacGillivray made 11 saves. UConn’s Cheyenne Sprecher made five.
