Butler, the fifth seed, will play at No. 1 seed and two-time defending tournament champion Georgetown. Butler freshman Wilmer Cabrera Jr., the newly minted BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, scored the game-winner in the 84th minute on a penalty kick. Georgetown’s last game was against Creighton in the regular-season finale. The Hoyas and Bluejays tied 1-1. Butler and Georgetown have never met in tournament action. During the regular season, Georgetown won 3-0 in Indianapolis. Georgetown is 6-1 all-time against the Bulldogs and 3-0 at Shaw Field. A win by Georgetown guarantees the Hoyas home field advantage for the BIG EAST Final. Georgetown boasts three BIG EAST major award winners in Midfielder of the Year Jacob Montes, Defensive Player of the Year Dylan Nealis and Co-Goalkeeper of the Year Giannis Nikopolidis. The Hoyas gave up just two goals during conference play. During last year’s tournament, Georgetown did not allow a goal to score.

Providence will travel to St. John’s in a rematch of the BIG EAST regular season finale. The Friars won 2-0 at home against the Red Storm. Providence comes into Queens having won its last five matches. The Red Storm and Friars also met last year in the first round of the BIG EAST Championship. PC won 1-0.  Providence is 7-0-1 against the Red Storm dating back to 2013. Of those seven recent Providence wins, five have been by one goal. St. John’s will look to try to make it back to a BIG EAST final using BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year Tani Oluwaseyi and Co-Goalkeeper of the Year Jan Hoffelner. The Red Storm has not been in a championship game since 2011.

The semifinal winners will play on Sunday at the highest remaining seed. Game time for the final is noon on FS2.
