Five BIG EAST teams tasted victory on Saturday by an average of 19 points.  The lone defeat was a two-point decision.

Villanova, ranked 10th in this week’s AP poll, used a 16-0 run late in the first half en route to a 78-54 win over Ohio at Wells Fargo Center.  Some younger Wildcats led the offense with sophomore Saddiq Bey scoring 19 points.  Freshman Justin Moore added 18 points.  Freshman Jeremiah Robinson-Earl had 11 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals.

DePaul is 5-0 for the first time since 1986-87 after a 75-54 win against Cornell.  Paul Reed produced his third straight double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.  The Blue Demons held their opponent under 60 points for the fourth time this season.

Butler improved to 4-0 after an 80-61 victory over visiting Wofford.  It’s the Bulldogs’ 53rd straight win at Hinkle Fieldhouse over a non-conference opponent, which is the second longest streak nationally.  Kamar Baldwin filled his stat line with 23 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots.  Butler led 44-27 at halftime.

Creighton (2-1) recovered from a Tuesday loss at Michigan to defeat Louisiana Tech 82-72 behind the backcourt trio of Mitch Ballock, Ty-Shon Alexander and Marcus Zegarowski.  Ballock finished with 22 points and six rebounds.  Alexander and Zegarowski each had 17 points and five boards.

Providence (3-1) bounced back from Wednesday’s defeat at Northwestern with a 68-47 decision over Saint Peter’s.  David Duke contributed 17 points and six assists.  Alpha Diallo had 15 points and nine rebounds.  The Friar defense helped force 24 Peacock turnovers.

St. John’s was the only unhappy group, losing to America East favorite Vermont 70-68 on basket with two seconds left.  The Johnnies (3-1) had tied the game 68-68 after making up a nine-point deficit in the final 3:19.  L.J. Figueroa and Mustapha Heron each scored 14 points.
