In the lone game on Monday’s BIG EAST schedule, Butler battles Missouri at the CBE Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City, Mo.  ESPNU will televise the contest at 7 p.m. ET.

Most BIG EAST teams either played in tournaments this past weekend or will spend this Thanksgiving week in tournament play.

On Sunday, Xavier and Villanova both reached the finals of their respective tournaments before falling short in close decisions on Sunday night.  Xavier absorbed its first loss of the year, a 70-65 defeat against Florida in the title game of the Charleston Classic.  The Musketeers cut a 17-point deficit to three points with one minute to play, but could not complete the comeback.  Paul Scruggs scored a game-high 24 points.  Tyrique Jones added 13 points and seven rebounds.  Both made the All-Tournament Team.

Villanova lost 87-78 to Baylor in the championship game of the Myrtle Beach Classic.  Collin Gillespie led the Wildcats (4-2) with 27 points and six assists.  The junior guard was named to the All-Tournament Team.

St. John’s defeated Massachusetts 78-63 in the second day of the Hall of Fame Tipoff at Uncasville, Ct.  Transfer David Caraher scored a team-high 17 points and Josh Roberts added 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots for the Johnnies (5-2).

In a campus game that is part of the Las Vegas Invitational, Creighton defeated North Florida 76-67 at the CHI Health Center.  Marcus Zegarowski scored 19 points and Mitch Ballock helped with 15 points and 11 assists.

BIG EAST teams take an overall 45-12 (.789) record into Monday’s play.
