NEW YORK – Georgetown’s Brett Sherman and Villanova’s Milly Routledge earn the latest BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week awards. The duo led their respective squads to team victories in a head-to-head dual between the Hoyas and Wildcats. Sherman led the Hoya men to a 175-125 victory over the Wildcats, while Routledge was instrumental in pacing the Villanova women to a 210-90 win over the Hoyas.
 
Providence competed in two meets last weekend which saw both men’s and women’s squads fall to Iona on Friday evening before the Friars split the meet against Fairfield on Saturday with the women topping the Staggs by a narrow 151-149 mark. Xavier traveled to Denison this weekend where both squads fell to the Big Red.
 
Male Athlete of the Week
Brett Sherman, Georgetown, So., Free/IM, Carmel, Ind.
Sherman lifted the Hoyas to a victory over Villanova on Saturday with three individual event wins. The sophomore touched the wall first in the 200 Free with a time of 1:42.86 before a 4:33.56 performance in the 500 Free to win the event and clinch the second fastest time in the BIG EAST behind his own time of 4:38.22. Sherman wrapped up his meet against Villanova with a win in the 400 IM with a time of 4:08.24. The sophomore also owns the BIG EAST best time in the 400 IM.
 
Female Athlete of the Week
Milly Routledge, Villanova, Jr., Free/Back, North Ascot, United Kingdom
Routledge posted a breakout performance in the Wildcats victory over Georgetown. The junior won the 100 Free with a time of 51.66 for the second fastest time in the BIG EAST behind her own time of 51.44. Routledge took part in the 200 Medley Relay where she swam the anchor leg with the fastest split of 23.56. Routledge closed out the meet with a second place finish in the 100 Back with a time of 57.88.
 
Notable Performances
Belinda Donohoe, Georgetown, Jr., Cambridge, Mass.
Donohoe posted a win in the 50 free with a time of 24.03 to remain unbeaten in the event through four meets this season.  The junior finished third in the 100 Free with a time of 52.76 and finished second in both the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.
 
Taylor Hogan, Xavier, Jr., Atkinson, N.H.
Hogan led the Musketeers with three first-place finishes, sweeping the butterfly events with times of 57.75 in the 100 Fly and 2:06.63 in the 200 Fly. Hogan also touched the wall first in the 400 IM with a season-best time of 4:33.48.
 
Andrew Martin, Xavier, Fr., Middleton, Wis.
Martin led the Musketeers in the distance free events against Denison, picking up a pair of gold medals. He opened the individual events with a win in the 1000 Free in a season-best time of 9:34.11, the top time by a BIG EAST competitor so far this season. Martin picked up a second gold in the 500 Free, winning with a time of 4:39.91.
 
Stephen Krecsmar, Villanova, Sr., Elkhart, Ind.
Krecsmar posted three event wins in the Wildcats’ setback to Georgetown. The senior won the 50 free with the second best time in the BIG EAST at 21.05 followed by victories in the 100 Free and 100 Fly at 47.00 and 50.72, respectively.
