BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Sonya Morris, DePaul, So., G
Morris highlighted No. 16/16 DePaul’s 2-0 week with a 29-point showing in the Blue Demons’ first win at Notre Dame since 2008. The sophomore guard made 12-of-25 attempts from the field, including 5-of-8 from deep, while dishing six assists, snagging five rebounds and collecting three steals. Morris scored 20 of her 29 in the first half, while the game total matched her career high, leading DePaul to its first victory over the Fighting Irish since 2011.
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week
Leilani Correa, St. John’s, Fr., G
Correa averaged 21.0 points in a 1-1 week for St. John’s, highlighted by a career-high 33 points in the Red Storm’s win over Army West Point on Monday night. The scoring total matched the St. John’s single-game rookie standard, set by Kia Wright on Nov. 20, 2004. Correa added nine points in St. John’s narrow setback at No. 8/8 Florida State on Sunday. For the week, Correa added 4.5 rebounds and shot .654 from the field.
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll
Kristen Spolyar, Butler, Sr., G
In a 1-1 week for the Bulldogs, Spolyar averaged a team-best 16.5 points along with 4.5 rebounds. She made 13-of-15 attempts from the charity stripe. Spolyar scored in double figures in both games last week, including 15 against No. 12/15 Indiana and 18 in a win over High Point.
Jaylyn Agnew, Creighton, Sr., F
Agnew matched the game high with 17 points, draining five three-pointers while collecting seven rebounds and four assists in the Bluejays’ win over rival Wichita State.
Qadashah Hoppie, St. John’s, Jr., G
Hoppie scored in double figures in both games last week, beginning with 13 points against Army on Monday before going for a team-high 16 at No. 8/8 Florida State on Sunday. For the week she averaged 14.5 points off .524 shooting, along with 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
Cameron Onken, Villanova, Jr., G
Onken scored a career-high 17 points and claimed her first career double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds and adding five assists in the Wildcats’ narrow setback to Temple.
Morgan Sharps, Xavier, Fr., G
Sharps led the Musketeers with a career-high 24 points in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout against Cincinnati. She was 9-for-15 from the floor and 6-for-12 from behind the arc, as the six three-pointers were the most in a game by a Xavier player since Jan. 29, 2016.
