Georgetown 5, Louisville 1
Georgetown opened the scoring in just the second minute as junior Jacob Montes dispossessed a Cardinal and took it into the box hitting a curler to the far post to make it 1-0. The Blue & Gray added another in the 26th minute as high pressure from freshman Dante Polvara gave GU the ball to Montes. He passed to junior Jack Beer on the far side who fired to make it 2-0. Louisville would not go away quietly as Pedro Fonseca got in front of the Georgetown defense, his first shot was off of the post but be buried the rebound to make it a one-goal game in the 29th minute of action. Another early goal gave the Hoyas some breathing room in the second half as Montes and sophomore Sean Zawadzki had an impressive build up to junior Paul Rothrock on the far side. His first shot was saved by UofL keeper Jake Gelnovatch but the rebound came back and he found the back of the net to make it 3-1 in the 50th minute. With 20 minutes left in the game, the Cards began to push forward forcing GU sophomore keeper Giannis Nikopolidis and the Hoya defense to come up with some big stops. Georgetown wasn't done with the scoring as a foul just outside the box gave Montes a solid look at the goal. He bent it in in the 82nd minute to make it 4-1. Just 21 seconds later, GU struck again as the Hoyas gained possession at midfield and Montes sent it to junior Derek Dodson. He found a streaking Rothrock coming down the left side who buried it for his second goal of the game and giving the Hoyas their second-consecutive game with five goals. Georgetown outshot Louisville 18-11 (10-4 SOG) and both teams had five corners apiece in the contest.
