NEW YORK – Marquette guard Markus Howard has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Villanova guard Justin Moore has been selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.  Howard set the scoring record at the Orlando Invitational while helping the Golden Eagles to a runner-up finish.  Moore was a standout in Villanova’s victory over Philadelphia Big 5 rival La Salle.             
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Markus Howard, Marquette, G, Sr. – Howard averaged 32.3 points in a 2-1 week for the Golden Eagles at the Orlando Invitational.  He broke the tournament scoring in only two games, tallying 91 points.  He had 51 points in a semifinal win against USC (101-79) and 40 points in an opening round victory versus Davidson (73-63).  Howard became only the fourth player in major conference history to score 40 points or more on consecutive days.  For the three games, Howard shot 42.3 percent (14-33) from 3-point range.  He leads the nation in scoring with a 26.0 average.
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Justin Moore, Villanova, G, Fr. – In Villanova’s only game of the week, an 83-72 victory over La Salle, Moore came off the bench for the first time this year and scored a collegiate-high 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting from field.  He also had five steals, three rebounds and three assists.  Moore is averaging 11.3 points for the season.          
 
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Kamar Baldwin, Butler, G, Sr.
Named MVP of the Hall of Fame Classic, while averaging 17.5 points and 4.5 rebounds.  Made the winning basket with five seconds left in the title game against Stanford (68-67), carrying the 7-0 Bulldogs to the title.  Scored 17 of the team's last 20 points in the final 8:34.    
 
Marcus Zegarowski, Creighton, G, So.
Averaged 19.5 points, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week at the Las Vegas Invitational.  Made the All-Tournament Team.  Had a career-high 32 points in an overtime win over Texas Tech (83-76).
 
Charlie Moore, DePaul, G, Jr.  
Averaged 19.5 points, 12.5 assists, 4.5 steals and 3.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week.  Had 18 points and 13 assists in a victory over Central Michigan (88-75) and posted 21 points and 12 assists in a win at Minnesota (73-68). Was the only league player with two double-doubles.         
 
Paul Reed, DePaul, F, Jr.
Averaged 17.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 6.0 blocks in wins versus Central Michigan (88-75) and at Minnesota (73-68).  Blocked eight shots in Minnesota game.      
 
Myles Powell, Seton Hall, G, Sr.
Set a tournament scoring record at the Battle 4 Atlantis, netting 74 points in three games.  Had 32 points, including seven 3-pointers, in a loss to Oregon (81-79) and 24 points in a win over Iowa State (84-76).  Was named All-Tournament Team.
