Butler is 9-0 and set to meet Baylor Tuesday night in the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle
MBB Minute – DePaul, Seton Hall Stumble on Sunday; Light Schedule Ahead
After league teams put together a 7-0 mark on Saturday, DePaul and Seton Hall absorbed defeats on Sunday evening.
DePaul cut a 19-point deficit to four against visiting Buffalo, but suffered its first loss of the season, a 74-69 decision. Paul Reed posted his league-leading seventh double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds. He also had five blocked shots and four steals. The Blue Demons are 9-1.
Seton Hall lost 76-66 at Iowa State in a BIG EAST/Big 12 Battle. Myles Powell was the only Pirate to reach double figures, scoring a game-high 19 points. Forward Sandro Mamukelashvili suffered a wrist injury in the first five minutes of the contest and did not return.
The BIG EAST hoops schedule is light this week with some schools in exams. There are no games on Monday, two on Tuesday, one on Friday and four on Saturday.
Going into Tuesday’s action, BIG EAST teams have a combined record of 73-21 (.777).
The BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle continues on Tuesday when Butler, ranked 18th in this week’s Associated Press poll and 19th in USA Today, plays at Baylor, ranked 11th in both polls, on ESPN2 at 9 p.m. ET.
Also on Tuesday, St. John’s hosts Brown at 7 p.m. on FS1. The Johnnies have won four in a row after Saturday’s 70-68 win against West Virginia.
