No. 19/19 Denver earns two honors after upsetting then-No. 18/17 Stanford and opening the year 2-0.

BIG EAST Attacker Of The Week
Hannah Liddy, Denver, So., A
Liddy sparked the Pioneers’ offense in a pair of road victories over the weekend, totaling five goals, six assists and three ground balls. At No. 18/17 Stanford on Friday, Liddy notched a hat trick and three assists, providing the game-winning goal with 2:25 left in regulation. All three of her shots against the Cardinal resulted in goals. At Cal on Sunday, the sophomore added five points with two goals and three dishes, along with two ground balls. Her two goals came off four shots as she scored on five of her seven shots taken on the week. Liddy scored the game’s first two goals and assisted on Bea Behrin’s game winner as No. 19/RV Denver opened the season 2-0.
 
BIG EAST Midfielder Of The Week
Francesca Whitehurst, Georgetown, Sr., M
Whitehurst shined in the Hoyas’ season-opening win at Saint Joseph’s, totaling three goals, an assist, two ground balls and two draw controls. Tied at 6-6 early in the second half, Whitehurst scored off a feed from Taylor Gehbardt to give No. 22/RV Georgetown a 7-6 advantage with 27:45 to play and the Hoyas never trailed again, leading by as many as five down the stretch. The Hoyas outshot Saint Joseph’s 33-20 and limited the Hawks to just nine second-half shots.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week
Elizabeth Behrins, Denver, Sr., M
Defense was the story in the Pioneers’ opening 2-0 weekend, holding both opponents to single-digit goals. Behrins tallied nine ground balls and eight caused turnovers in road wins at No. 18/17 Stanford and Cal, while No. 19/RV Denver outshot their foes by a 60-33 margin, including 45-32 on target. Behrins had three CT and three GB against the Cardinal before going for five CT and six GB against the Golden Bears.
 
BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week
Lilly Siskind, Old Dominion
Siskind was the BIG EAST’s top scoring rookie over opening weekend, totaling a goal and two assists in the Monarch’s setback at Coastal Carolina. She added a draw control and ground ball. Siskind’s first collegiate goal came with 10:14 left in the first half as ODU cut CCU’s lead to three, while both of her helpers came early in the second half.
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Katie Comerford, Villanova, So., A
Comerford posted five points off two goals and three assists at No. 24/19 Duke on Saturday. She added a ground ball and caused turnover.
Taylor Gebhardt, Georgetown, Sr., A
Gebhardt had a single-game high last week of seven points in the Hoyas’ 12-9 win at Saint Joseph’s. The senior tallied three goals and four assists while adding a caused turnover.
Grace Gabriel, Marquette, Sr., M
Gabriel and Marquette went 1-1 on opening weekend, including a 15-12 home win over Louisville. Against the Cardinals, the BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year tallied five goals, eight draw controls and three ground balls. She added three draws, two ground balls and a caused turnover in Friday’s loss to No. 20/RV Notre Dame.
