NEW YORK – The final BIG EAST men’s and women’s track and field athletes of the week were awarded to Georgetown’s Ruach Padhal, Butler’s Allie Vogeler and Marquette’s Keely Knobbe and Brendan McKinney. The BIG EAST Track & Field Championships presented by Jeep will take place this week, Friday and Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
 
BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Ruach Padhal, Georgetown, So., Middle Distance (London, Ontario)
Georgetown sophomore Ruach Padhal ran the 800-meter split of the Hoya men’s DMR which finished fourth at the JDL Fast Track Invitational on Feb. 15. He ran the 800 in 1:49.39, .20 seconds faster than his individual 800-meter time which ranks second on the BIG EAST leaderboard (1:49.39). The Georgetown men’s DMR leads the BIG EAST with a time of 9:29.21, completed at the meet last weekend. The relay-squad’s time also is 10th on the national list so far this season.
 
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Brendan McKinney, Marquette, Sr., Throws (Arlington Heights, Ill.)
Marquette senior Brendan McKinney took gold in the men’s weight throw at the Wisconsin Red and White Classic this weekend with a distance of 20.51 meters. He continues to rank second in Marquette’s record book. His mark leads the BIG EAST this season.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Allie Vogeler, Butler, Sr., Sprints (Rolling Prairie, Ind.)
Butler senior Allie Vogeler took the top spot in the 200 meter race at the Alex Wilson Invitational with a time of 24.96, breaking the previous Butler record of 25.56. The senior finished ahead of BYU’s Ellie Quackenbush who came I second with a time of 25.04.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Keely Knobbe, Marquette, Sr., Throws (Wadsworth, Ill.)
Marquette senior thrower Keely Knobbe broke the Marquette record in the weight throw with an impressive PR of 18.71 meters. Her throw leads the BIG EAST by .30 meters. She competed at the Wisconsin Red & White Classic on Feb. 15.
