NEW YORK – The 2019 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships presented by Jeep are set to begin Wednesday at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y. The championships are back in Long Island for the 13
th time in BIG EAST history. Seton Hall men will seek their third-straight crown, while Villanova women will aim for six in a row.
All of the action will be available live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN), including all preliminary and final sessions for both swimming and diving. Live results will also be available for each session which can be accessed on the BIG EAST website. Preliminaries for swimming will commence at 10 a.m. ET, while diving prelims start at noon Thursday through Saturday and at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Finals for both swimming and diving will begin at 6 p.m. each evening.
Six teams including Butler, Georgetown, Providence, Seton Hall, Villanova and Xavier will vie for the top spots beginning on Wednesday evening with finals of the 800 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay, along with the men’s 1-meter diving finals. Thursday’s slate includes finals for the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, women’s 3-meter diving and 200 freestyle relay. Friday’s schedule features the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, men’s 3-meter diving and the 400 medley relay. Saturday will commence with the mile race, followed by the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, women’s 1-meter diving and finally the 400 freestyle relay.
The Xavier men hold the top times in each relay, except for the 400 medley and 800 freestyle relay in which Georgetown has the top-seeded times. On the women’s side, Villanova has the fastest times in each relay besides the 200 medley relay in which Xavier has the top time.
