BIG EAST unbeaten teams ascend IWLCA, Inside Lacrosse Media Polls.

In The Polls
Undefeated BIG EAST teams climbed up the national rankings this week as Denver, sporting a 3-0 mark, improved six spots in the IWLCA Coaches Poll to No. 13, and jumped three spots in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll to No. 16. Georgetown, at 2-0, climbed two spots in the coaches poll to No. 20, while debuted in the media poll at No. 19 after receiving votes the last two weeks. Denver’s No. 13 ranking is its highest since the 2017 campaign.
 
Weekend Ahead
The game of the weekend pits No. 13/16 against No. 6/4 Stony Brook on Sunday at noon ET. The Seawolves have yet to play a game this season but will face No. 13/14 Colorado prior to their showdown with the Pioneers. Denver is 3-0 on the year which includes a win at then-No. 18/17. Fellow BIG EAST unbeaten No. 20/19 Georgetown will host Drexel on Saturday at 3 p.m., one of four games on Saturday. Old Dominion eyes its first win of the season when it welcomes Winthrop to Norfolk, while Marquette and Villanova look to make it two in a row when they face Kennesaw State and Siena, respectively. Butler is the lone squad with multiple games this weekend as the Bulldogs host Kent State on Friday and Central Michigan on Sunday.
 
Midweek Recap
Despite a season-high five goals from Ashley Guerra, Butler could not hold off a strong second half from Detroit Mercy on Tuesday, falling 17-13. The Bulldogs fell to 0-2 on the season. Butler trailed just 10-9 at the half, but UDM scored six of the first seven goals of the second to pull away. Holly Hall posted a goal, three draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls. On Wednesday, Glory Johnson had four goals and Lily Siskind totaled a goal and four assists but Old Dominion dropped to 0-4 on the year with a 17-10 setback to William & Mary. Tied 2-2 10 minutes into the contest, the Tribe reeled off 10 of the next 11 goals to build up an insurmountable margin. Each team posted seven goals in the second half.
