NEW YORK – DePaul’s Morgan Greenwood and Creighton’s Logan Black have been named BIG EAST Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Greenwood helped the Blue Demons to a perfect 5-0 record at the Hawaii Invitational to improve their overall record to 13-1. In two starts, Black did not allow an earned run as the Bluejays went 2-2 over the weekend.
 
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Morgan Greenwood, DePaul, Sr., C/3B (Shorewood, Ill.)
Greenwood hit .500 in five games in Honolulu, Hawaii over the past week as the Blue Demons defeated New Mexico and Canisius twice, along with a win over host Hawaii. She recorded a hit in each game to propel DePaul’s offense. Greenwood totaled eight hits and eight RBI and scored five total runs. The senior added two doubles and a home run, while also drawing four walks over the course of the tournament.
 
BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Logan Black, Creighton, So., P (Omaha, Neb.)
Black did not allow a run in either of the two complete games she started for the Bluejays during their visit to Carbondale, Ill., over the weekend for an ERA of 0.00. She registered a career-high 13 strikeouts in their game against Evansville, which is the most for a Creighton player since 2016. Black also held her opponents to a .184 batting average.
 
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Sammy Andersen, Butler, Sr., C (Minden, Iowa)
Andersen helped the Bulldogs to a 2-2 record at the Hilltopper Classic hosted by Western Kentucky. In their first game against Indiana State, she went 3-for-3 and connected on a two-run home run which helped the Bulldogs earn the victory. She also added another two runs and two RBI.
 
Krista Dalgarn, DePaul, Jr., P (Orange, Calif.)
Dalgarn went 3-0 on the mound for the Blue Demons in the Hawaii Invitational. She recorded wins over New Mexico twice and Hawaii for an ERA of 1.62. The junior did not allow a run in 3.1 innings of relief against New Mexico and tallied five strikeouts in each game she pitched, fanning a total of 15 batters.
