Glory Johnson, Old Dominion, Jr., A
Johnson was a scoring machine last week, totaling 11 points off nine goals and two assists in a 1-1 week for the Monarchs. The junior scored four goals off six shots in Wednesday’s setback to William & Mary before going off for five goals and two assists in Saturday’s win over Winthrop. For the week she was 3-3 in free position shots, including the game winner against the Eagles, and led all players with multiple game appearances in goals and points per game. Her seven points against Winthrop matched the single-game high in the BIG EAST this season, while her five goals were one shy of that mark.
BIG EAST Midfielder Of The Week
Grace Gabriel, Marquette, Sr., M
Gabriel repeats as top middie after going for a BIG EAST-best six goals in a 19-15 win at Kennesaw State on Saturday. The senior added seven draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls against the Owls as MU improved to 3-2 on the year.
BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week
Carson Gregg, Denver, Jr., GK
The Pioneers knocked off a top-five team for the first time under head coach Liza Kelly and Gregg led the charge. No. 13/16 Denver upset No. 6/4 Stony Brook on Sunday 11-7 with Gregg making 11 saves while facing 27 shots. The Seawolves were just 3-of-8 on free position shots and were held to a season-low seven goals after posting 15 at No. 13/14 Colorado two days prior. The Pioneers improved to 4-0 on the year with the win, while Gregg improved to No. 2 nationally in goals against average (4.92) and No. 5 in save percentage (.604).
BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week
Alexa Moro, Villanova, Fr., GK
Moro posted a BIG EAST single game-high 16 saves in Saturday’s 12-7 win over Siena. The rookie goalkeeper faced 24 shots. Siena was limited to just 2-of-9 on free position shots. Moro’s 16 stops were also a career best.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Elizabeth Behrins, Denver, Sr., M
Behrins sparked the Pioneers on both offense and defense in their win over No. 6/4 Stony Brook, posting a game-high four ground balls and a team-best three caused turnovers, while adding a goal and assist in the upset victory. Behrins currently leads in the BIG EAST in CT per game (3.00) while listing second in ground balls (3.75).
Ashley Guerra, Butler, So., A
Guerra totaled 16 points off 10 goals and six assists in a three-game week for the Bulldogs, highlighted by a three-goal, four-assist outing in Butler’s first ever home win. The sophomore was credited with the game winner in Friday’s 13-10 victory over Kent State.
Natalia Lynch, Georgetown, Jr., M
Lynch was instrumental on both ends of the field for the Hoyas, who knocked off Drexel 16-5 on Saturday. The junior registered a hat trick, assist and three draw controls, while assisting the defense which allowed single-digit goals for the third straight game, holding the Dragons to a season-low five scores.
