No. 10/9 Marquette, Georgetown, Villanova, St. John’s earn season sweeps with Sunday wins.
Villanova 67, Creighton 62 2OT
Over 10 minutes of the game was played with a tied score and no team led by more than 10 as the Wildcats extended their win streak to four with the double-overtime victory. Mary Gedaka led all scorers with 23 points, adding seven rebounds and five assists for Villanova. Audrey Faber led Creighton with 22 points, six rebounds and three blocks. The Wildcats committed just three turnovers on the afternoon, one over the BIG EAST single-game record, while CU committed a season-low seven. Creighton was limited to 2-of-11 shooting in the overtime periods, while Gedaka and Adrianna Hahn combined for 11 of VU’s 13 bonus-time points off 4-of-6 shooting. With the win, Villanova earned the season sweep over the Bluejays.

10/9 Marquette 93, RV/RV DePaul 87
Despite the narrow score, the visiting Golden Eagles trailed for just 16 seconds of the contest, holding off DePaul’s upset bid and earning the season sweep. MU improved to 10-0 in BIG EAST play, the finest start and longest conference winning streak by any team since reconfiguration. Each squad saw five players score in double figures, with MU’s Allazia Blockton going for a game-high 25 points, while Chante Stonewall led DePaul with 21. The game’s final six minutes was played within two possessions, with Rebekah Dahlman tying the game with a three-pointer with 2:14 left. Blockton broke the tie with an and-one 13 seconds later, and Marquette remained ahead the remainder of the contest thanks to a 7-of-8 clip from the charity stripe down the stretch.

Georgetown 61, Providence 56
The Hoyas picked up the season sweep over the Friars and posted its first 2-0 BIG EAST weekend of the season. Tied with under six minutes to play, Georgetown scored five straight points and held at least a two-possession advantage the rest of the way as Dorothy Adomako scored 11 of her game-high 20 in the fourth quarter. Providence got within four with 3:48 to go, but the Hoyas held the Friars scoreless for over three minutes while building up an insurmountable advantage. Three Providence players scored 10 points apiece, including rookie Mary Baskerville who added a game-high 15 rebounds for her third double-double of the year.

St. John's 70, Xavier 41
The host Red Storm never trailed to pick up the season sweep of the Musketeers and break free of the tie with Xavier in the standings. Curteeona Brelove led four St. John’s players in double figures, scoring 15 points and grabbing eight boards. The Red Storm shot over 40 percent for the seventh time in the last eight games, knocking down 46.8 percent of their attempts while holding Xavier to a 30.8-percent clip. Three Musketeers scored seven points apiece, including A’riana Gray who added six boards.

Seton Hall 83, Butler 62
Shadeen Samuels and Inja Butina combined for 48 points to lead the Pirates, with Samuels adding 10 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season. The Hall knocked down double-digit three-pointers and led for nearly 35 minutes in the victory. SHU held Butler to nine second-quarter points to take a double-digit lead into the half, and the Pirates never looked back. Four Bulldogs scored in double figures, including Tori Schickel who picked up her 11
th double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 boards. Butler outshot Seton Hall .431 to .421 and won the rebounding battle by four, but were hamstrung by 21 turnovers which SHU turned into 26 points. Butler and Seton Hall split the season series.
