8/7 Marquette 59, Georgetown 52
The Golden Eagles clinched a BIG EAST Tournament First Round bye with its 11
th conference victory and 20
th win overall, claiming the season sweep over Georgetown. Isabelle Spingola, Danielle King and Amani Wilborn scored 12 points apiece while Erika Davenport grabbed 23 rebounds to eclipse 1,000 for her career. Georgetown’s Dorothy Adomako led all scorers with 17 points while Nikola Kovacikova added 13. Neither team led by more than nine as the game featured four ties and four lead changes. Knotted entering the fourth quarter, Spingola drained back-to-back threes to open the frame and MU led by at least three the rest of the way. GU committed just nine turnovers but shot just 31.7 percent, while the Hoyas scored 15 points off 17 Marquette miscues as the Golden Eagles shot 40 percent from the field and from deep. The contest was the BIG EAST’s annual all-access game featured on FS1 as head coaches Carolyn Kieger and James Howard donned microphones during the commercial-free broadcast.

-/RV DePaul 93, Villanova 70
The Blue Demons halted the Wildcats’ winning streak at four games and earned a pivotal season sweep of Villanova thanks to a decisive stretch to close the first half. VU led by seven midway through the first quarter but DePaul closed the first half on a 16-0 run to take a 50-33 advantage into the break. The Blue Demons kept their foot on the gas thanks to their 17
th double-digit three-point night of the season, draining 13-of-25 from beyond the arc for a 52-percent clip. Mart’e Grays shined for DePaul with a career-high 31 points, becoming the fourth different BIG EAST player to reach the 30-point threshold this season. Grays was 12-of-13 from the field and 4-of-5 from deep. Adrianna Hahn led four Wildcats in double figures with 17 points.

Providence 82, Seton Hall 75
The host Friars used a 29-point fourth quarter to erase a 13-point third-quarter deficit and pick up their sixth BIG EAST win of the season. The six conference wins match the most for PC since the 2010-11 season. Maddie Jolin scored a game-high 25 points to lead Providence, while Desiree Elmore sparked the Pirates with 22. The Friars held BIG EAST leading scorer Shadeen Samuels to just three second-half points after the junior erupted for 14 over the first 20 minutes. PC made 4-of-5 attempts from deep over the final 10 minutes to rally, finishing 10-of-21 from beyond the arc and improving to 3-0 in BIG EAST play when knocking down double-digit treys. Providence and Seton Hall split the season series.

Butler 63, Xavier 38
Butler scored 26 points off 20 Xavier turnovers to pick up its 18
th win of the season and remain alone in second place in the BIG EAST standings. The Bulldogs were led by 18 points from Kristen Spolyar, while Shae Brey added a career-high 13 points and seven boards. A’riana Gray had eight points and 10 boards for the Musketeers, her 15
th double-digit rebounding performance of the season. With the win, Butler swept the season series.

St. John’s 51, Creighton 45
The Red Storm evened the season series with the Bluejays and moved into a tie in the standings with Creighton with Friday’s win in Omaha. St. John’s scored 15 points off 14 CU miscues while limiting the Bluejays to 33-percent shooting. Curteeona Brelove scored a game-high 15 points off 6-of-11 shooting to lead St. John’s, while Audrey Faber led Creighton with 14 points. Despite the narrow score, St. John’s never trailed in the contest, committing just eight turnovers and shooting over 40 percent from the field.
