NEW YORK – Creighton’s Kiele Miller and St. John’s Marissa Rizzi have each collected their second BIG EAST Softball awards of the season. Miller, the Pitcher of the Week, was recognized on Feb. 18, while Rizzi was also named Player of the Week on March 4. The Red Storm defeated Hofstra, Wagner and Holy Cross twice, while the Bluejays were victorious against UMKC twice and South Dakota State over the weekend.
 
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Marissa Rizzi, St. John’s, Jr., 1B (Manorville, N.Y.)
Rizzi helped the Red Storm to a 3-1 record in their own St. John’s Invitational during the past weekend. The first baseman was dominant at the plate, batting .700 over the four-game span, which led the league. She connected on seven hits in 10 at-bats, while driving in six runs and scoring another five runs. Rizzi’s three home runs in the Johnnies’ three wins also topped the league and she was tied for second with three stolen bases. Her slugging and on-base percentages of 1.600 and .786, respectively, were both conference-bests over the past week.
 
BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Kiele Miller, Creighton, So., P (Dripping Springs, Texas)
Miller pitched a pair of complete games as she guided the Bluejays to wins over UMKC and SDSU. She led the league in ERA at 0.50 and opposing batting average at .106. She sophomore fanned seven Kangaroos and struck out another nine batters versus the Jackrabbits. In 14 innings of work, Miller allowed five hits and just one earned run.
 
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Alyssa Graves, Butler, So., P (East Peoria, Ill.)
Graves led the league in strikeouts over the past week with 33 during eight games for the Bulldogs. She pitched a total of 23.2 innings where she accumulated an ERA of 1.77, allowing just six earned runs. Graves sent down 10 batters against No. 21 Minnesota.
 
Noelle Holiday, Georgetown, Jr., 1B (Bear, Del.)
Holiday collected a conference second-best six RBI for the Hoyas over the past week and was tied for the second-best slugging percentage at 1.000. She also added a league second-best two homers, along with four total hits and two doubles in four games for Georgetown.
 
Megan McCune, Providence, Sr., P/UT (Orange, Calif.)
McCune posted the second-best ERA in the BIG EAST during the past week at 0.54. The senior tallied six strikeouts in 13 innings on the mound, and only allowed one run in three appearances for the Friars.
 
Peyton Cody, St. John’s, Fr., C (Mission Viejo, Calif.)
Cody topped the conference in runs scored with seven over the past week, while she was second in batting average (.615) and tied for second in hits (8) and slugging percentage (1.000). The rookie also added four RBI and hit a home run versus Holy Cross.
 
Becky Ducar, Villanova, Jr., INF (Phoenix, Ariz.)
Ducar recorded hits in all four of the Wildcats’ games over the weekend. She posted five RBI along with scoring a run and hitting two doubles for an average of .385.
