Dorothy Adomako leads Hoyas to three-game season sweep of Friars with 53-46 third-round victory.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In WNIT Third Round action, Georgetown defeated BIG EAST foe Providence, 53-46, on Tuesday night in the Ocean State. The Hoyas advance to the WNIT Quarterfinals for the first time since 2009 and will face either James Madison or Virginia Tech, which tipoff on Thursday in Harrisonburg, Va., at 7 p.m. ET. Butler will play its WNIT Third Round contest on Thursday when it travels to Cincinnati, with tipoff set for 7 p.m.
 
Georgetown 53, Providence 46 – WNIT Third Round
After ending the first quarter tied at 13-13, Providence took a 10-point lead into halftime by limiting the visiting Hoyas to just five second-quarter points. GU came out firing in the third, however, opening the second half on a 13-2 run and limiting PC to just six third-quarter points as the teams entered the fourth knotted at 34-34. Georgetown never trailed in the fourth, however, as Dorothy Adomako scored 10 of her game-20 points over the final 10 minutes. The senior added 10 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season. GU turned 15 Providence turnovers in 21 points and grabbed 18 offensive rebounds towards 12 second-chance points. PC’s Jovana Nogic scored a team-high 18 points, highlighted by a pair of three-pointers to break her own program single-season three-point mark of 93 made on the year. Mary Baskerville grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds for her eighth double-digit rebounding showing of the year.
