BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Casey Comber, Villanova, Junior
Comber ran the NCAA’s fifth-fastest 1,500 meters this season on Friday at the Joe Walker Classic in Oxford, Miss. The junior finished in 3:42.54 to lead the BIG EAST in 2019 by more than two seconds.
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Brendan McKinney, Marquette, Senior
McKinney recorded the top hammer throw mark in the BIG EAST this season with a toss of 55.01 meters at Saturday’s Illinois Twilight meet. The senior won the event and also finished fifth in the discus – an event which he already has the BIG EAST’s top mark in this season.
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Trudy-Ann Williamson, Villanova, Sophomore
Williamson ran the fastest 100-meter dash in the BIG EAST since 2014 with her time of 11.58 seconds at the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational. The Villanova-record time ranks 61
st nationally and 36
th in the East Region. The sophomore also recorded a PR in the 200m (24.17) which ranks second in the conference this season.
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Amarys Berry, St. John’s, Junior
Berry shined at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships, delivering a BIG EAST-leading distance of 14.63 meters in the shot put. Her best mark also qualified her for the ECAC Championships and ranks 66
th in the East Region. She added a personal-best distance of 45.40 meters in the hammer throw to rank eighth in the conference in 2019.
BIG EAST Notable Performances
- Georgetown senior Spencer Brown posted the 29th-fastest 800m time in Division I this season with a finish of 1:49.12 – ranking second in the BIG EAST – at the George Mason Spring Invitational
- Villanova’s Jacob Kelly became the fourth athlete in program history to clear 2.10 meters on the high jump, a height which ranks second in the BIG EAST this season and 28th in the East Region
- Leah Anderson of St. John’s claimed three first-place finishes at the Mets Outdoor Track and Field Championship – winning the 200m (24.26), 400m (54.80) and 4x100m (46.93) – the sophomore already recorded the top 200m and 400m times in the BIG EAST earlier this season
- Millie Paladino led Providence with the 78th-fastest 800 meter time in the NCAA this season with a finish of 2:08.19 at the Ocean State Invitational on Friday
- Marquette’s Rachel Seraphine posted the top pole distance height in the BIG EAST this season, clearing the bar at 3.80 meters at Saturday’s Illinois Twilight meet to rank 65th in the West Region
- Allie Vogeler set a Butler program record in the 400m on Friday at the Ball State Challenge, snapping the tape in 55.65 seconds
