CAYCE, S.C. –
The 2019 BIG EAST Tennis Championship presented by Jeep is set to take place at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C. for the fourth straight year from April 19-21. Women’s first round action kicks off on Thursday at 10 a.m.
 
St. John’s men claimed the top seed in the tournament, while Xavier is the No. 1 seed for the women. The Red Storm won the title from 2014-16, and the Musketeers were champions in 2016. Butler is the No. 2 seed on the men’s side, while defending runners-up DePaul are seeded second for the women.
 
After the first round, competition is scheduled to begin each day at 9 a.m. ET.  Admission is free and open to the public for all rounds of the Championship.
 
For the first time, the Men’s and Women’s Championship matches will be streamed live Sunday on the BIG EAST Digital Network through the Fox Sports App. John Fanta and Joe Gentry will host whip-around coverage from the six championship courts throughout the day. The Men’s Championship broadcast begins at 8:55 a.m. ET followed by Women’s Championship coverage which will commence five minutes prior to the start of competition.

In last year’s Championship, top-seeded St. John’s won the women’s title, defeating No. 2 DePaul, 4-2. The Red Storm claimed their first-ever championship after they were runners-up to the Blue Demons the year prior. No. 3 Marquette secured the men’s crown in 2018, taking down No. 1 seed DePaul, 4-1. The Golden Eagles were first-time winners in 2018 after they were runners-up the three previous years.
