Hannah Liddy, Denver, So., A
Liddy sparked the nationally ranked Pioneers to a 2-0 week by totaling 13 points off two goals and 11 assists. The sophomore attacker matched the BIG EAST single-game record for assists with eight helpers in Saturday’s 20-1 win over Old Dominion. She also scored twice against the Monarchs. In Tuesday’s 9-7 win at No. 25/RV Colorado, Liddy was credited with three assists.
BIG EAST Midfielder Of The Week
Grainger Rosati, Villanova, Jr., M
Rosati led the Wildcats to a 15-13 win at Marquette on Saturday with three goals and an assist for four points, along with four ground balls, three draw controls and a caused turnover. The junior scored the game-winning goal with 3:33 remaining before Brittany Bruno provided an insurance score in the final minute.
BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week
Kate Fischer, Denver, Sr., D
In a 2-0 week, No. 18/16 Denver surrendered just eight goals as Fischer led the stingy defense in victories over No. 25/RV Colorado and Old Dominion. The Pioneers outshot their opponents 58-30, including 46-20 on goal, with Fischer being credited with three caused turnovers, two ground balls and two draw controls. Denver leads the nation in scoring defense at just 6.09 goals per game.
BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week
Shea Garcia, Marquette, Fr., A
Garcia recorded her fifth hat trick of the season in Saturday’s conference opener, putting each of her five shots on target. The rookie helped Marquette rally from a seven-goal deficit to pull even twice over the final 12 minutes, scoring all three of her goals during the Golden Eagles’ 9-2 spurt to tie the game. She added a ground ball, draw control and caused turnover.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Brittany Bruno, Villanova, So., A
Bruno led the Wildcats to a 15-13 win at Marquette on Saturday with seven points off six goals and an assist. Bruno’s sixth goal of the game helped to clinch the win for Villanova, coming with 49 seconds left and a one-goal lead.
Liza Liotta, Georgetown, Jr., M
Liotta scored a game-high four goals as the nationally ranked Hoyas topped Butler 21-3. All five of Liotta’s shots were on target and she added a pair of ground balls.
Molly Little, Denver, Jr., M
In a 2-0 week for the Pioneers, Little had three points off a goal and two assists, nine draw controls, six ground balls and six caused turnovers. In Saturday’s win over Old Dominion, the junior had a goal, assist, five draws, four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
