Final Game Winners, Denver, Georgetown and Providence Earn Final #BIGEASTmlax Weekly Awards
BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week
Robert Clark, Georgetown, Sr., A (Cooksville, Md.)
Georgetown senior attacker Robert Clark led the Hoyas to a 14-10 victory over St. John’s in the regular-season finale as he scored a team-best four goals to go with an assist for five points in the win-and-you’re-in scenario. He was also one of six Hoyas to collect at least four ground balls against the Red Storm. Clark took eight shots, seven on goal for a .875 shots on goal percentage. Clark scored four of the Hoyas’ five goals in the fourth quarter to help Georgetown maintain a lead over St. John’s. Based on the outcomes of the other games, Georgetown’s win also turned into a No. 2 seed for the Hoyas in the upcoming tournament.
BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week
Colin Keating, Providence, Sr., FOS (Ridgewood, N.J.)
Providence senior Colin Keating took all 19 faceoffs, winning 11 for a .579 winning percentage in the Friars’ come-from-behind 9-8 overtime win over Villanova. The win helped give the Friars the No. 3 seed in the upcoming tournament. Keating also scored the game-winning goal after winning the overtime faceoff against the Wildcats. Keating picked up a game-best seven ground balls and also added an assist in his Saturday’s performance.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Tate Boyce, Providence, Sr., GK (Matthews, N.C.)
Providence senior goalie Tate Boyce made 13 saves in goal against Villanova to hold the Wildcats to eight goals. Boyce posted a .619 save percentage and a 7.99 goals against average. Boyce has allowed less than 10 goals in nine games this season. The win for Boyce and Providence helped lock up a No. 3 seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
BIG EAST Freshman Player of the Week
Cole French, Denver, Fr., GK (Danville, Calif. )
Denver freshman Cole French had a 10-save performance in goal against Marquette on Friday to help lead Denver to their sixth straight regular season title. After stopping just two of the first seven shots he saw on goal, he went on to stop nine of the next 12 to key a 8-3 Denver run over the final three quarters in an eventual 9-8 win for the Pioneers.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Lucas Wittenberg, Georgetown, Sr., M
Wittenberg led the league last week with six points (3G, 3A) as he helped lead Georgetown to a 14-10 victory over St. John’s. He also added a ground ball.
Noah Richard, Marquette, Sr., LSM
In his final appearance as a Golden Eagle, Richard set a new career best with 10 ground balls in the 9-8 loss to Denver on Friday. He also set a career best with four caused turnovers. He helped hold Denver to just nine goals as both teams were held scoreless over the final 17:10 of regulation.
Joe Madsen, St. John’s, Jr., A
Madsen scored a weekly-best five goals in a league loss to Georgetown, 14-10, on Saturday. Madsen has scored at least one goal in the last 16 games for St. John’s.
