MBB Minute -- DePaul Loses to South Florida in CBI Finals
DePaul lost 77-65 to South Florida in the third game of the CBI finals on April 5. The Blue Demons dropped the best-of-three series two games to one. They ended their season with a 19-17 record, the most wins since the 2006-07 team won 20 games.
DePaul played their final contest without guard Eli Cain who suffered an arm injury in game two. He had started 127 consecutive games in his career and finished ninth in career scoring with 1,642 points and eighth in assists with 405.
Devin Gage led DePaul in its season finale by matching his career scoring high with 19 points. Max Strus added 16 points. He finished the season ranked third in the BIG EAST in scoring with a 20.1 average and was first in minutes played (37.4). Paul Reed, the BIG EAST Most Improved Player, led the league in rebounding with an 8.5 mark.
DePaul was the second BIG EAST team to compete in the CBI. Pittsburgh won the CBI title in 2012.
