NEW YORK – Following their performances at the 2019 BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships presented by Jeep, 137 student-athletes across eight schools were named to the All-BIG EAST Team. The All-BIG EAST squad is comprised of BIG EAST competitors who finished in the top three in any individual or relay event at the championships, with this season’s meet held at New York City’s Icahn Stadium, May 10-11.
On the list were 69 men and 68 women, including 34 (17 men, 17 women) who earned all-conference recognition in multiple events. Three men and four women earned All-BIG EAST accolades in three events, while two men and two women brought home four certificates apiece: Leah Anderson of St. John’s (200m,400m, 4x100, 4x400) and DePaul’s Kiersten Walker (200m,400m, 4x100, 4x400), Brendan Van Voorhis (200m, 400m, 4x100, 4x400) and Isaac Walker (200m,400m, 4x100, 4x400).
Women’s team champion Villanova led the way with 26 total All-BIG EAST certificates across 18 student-athletes. Caroline Alcorta (5,000m; 10,000m), Danielle Burns (100m-H, 400m-H, 4x100), Gloria Donou (long jump, triple jump), Sarah Jones (100m-H, 4x100), Lydia Olivere (steeplechase, 4x800) and Trudy-Ann Williamson (100m, 200m, 4x100) all claimed multiple honors for the Wildcats. Led by Van Voorhis and Walker, the DePaul men tallied 21 total All-BIG EAST certificates across 13 student-athletes. Men’s team champion Villanova collected 20 All-BIG EAST recognitions across 16 student-athletes, with Casey Comber (1,500m; 4x800), Keegan Hughes (400m-H, 4x400), Harry Purcell (800m, 4x400) and Logan Wetzel (1,500m; 4x800) earning multiple nods.
