Two-day event gets under way at 10 a.m. Friday and will stream on the BIG EAST Digital Network.

NEW YORK – The 2019 BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships presented by Jeep heads to New York City’s Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island for the first time. The two-day event will run May 10-11. The Marquette men have won two of the last three titles, including last year’s crown at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, with 230.5 points. Villanova women claimed their third trophy in five seasons, tallying 196 points in Ohio. The Wildcats swept both men’s and women’s indoor titles this past February.

Action begins 10 a.m. ET on Friday, with the decathlon and heptathlon getting under way, as well as the women’s hammer throw. Running events begin at 1 p.m. and continue through 5:45 p.m. Fourteen of Friday’s running races will be trials, while the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 10,000-meter run will be championship races.
 
Saturday’s schedule begins at 9 a.m. with the multi-events. Field events will begin at 11:30 a.m. Running events will start at noon, kicking off with the 4x100-meter relays. All running events on Saturday will be final.
 
The BIG EAST Digital Network will once again cover the running events live starting at 12:55 p.m. on Friday and 11:55 a.m. Saturday, with Matt Schumacker, John Fanta and Meghan Caffrey on the call. Field and multi-events will be taped and highlights will be inserted into the two-day broadcast.
 
The awards ceremony will begin approximately at 3:45 p.m. ET and will be covered by BEDN. Trophies will be given to the team champions and runners up; most outstanding track performer, most outstanding field performer and high point scorer for the men and women.
 
There are 20 student-athletes looking to defend their 2018 individual champion titles in 20 events. Most notably, DePaul’s Kyle Decker will look to become just the 11th competitor in BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championship history to four-peat in an event after winning the last three 110-meter hurdles titles. Decker would become just the second student-athlete in BIG EAST history to four-peat at both the indoor and outdoor championships after claiming his fourth gold medal in the 60-meter hurdles this past February.
