NEW YORK – All 10 teams are in action as the 2019 BIG EAST volleyball season kicks off with a slate of 28 games over the upcoming weekend. St. John’s heads to Honolulu, Hawaii for the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic, while Georgetown will remain home to host the 2019 Georgetown Classic. Preseason conference favorite Marquette will travel to Provo, Utah, for the BYU Nike Invitational.
The No. 16 Golden Eagles will be tested early with a matchup against 2018 NCAA Semifinalist No. 9 BYU on Saturday at 9 p.m. ET. No. 18 Creighton will also see top competition early when the Bluejays make the short trip to Lincoln, Neb. for the Husker Invitational. The season-opener for the 2018 BIG EAST champions comes against NCAA Runner-Up No. 2 Nebraska at 8 p.m. ET on Friday. Creighton faces a quick turnaround when the Bluejays meet No. 20 Baylor on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The Red Storm are also set for a competitive start to non-conference action when St. John’s faces No. 13 Washington on Friday at 10:45 p.m. ET before meeting RV Hawai’i on Saturday at 1 a.m. ET. St. John’s will wrap up play in the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic with a match against No. 21 San Diego on Sunday at 8:45 p.m.

DePaul will open the 2019 campaign at the Mary Jo Wynn Invitational hosted my Missouri State, while Providence travels to Fairfax, Va. for a two match play day at George Mason on Sunday. Seton Hall will begin the 2019 slate with a trip to Baltimore, Md. for the Morgan State/Towson Invitational with three matches over the span of two days. Xavier also travels to Utah to compete in the Utah State Invitational with a field of Eastern Michigan, Southern Utah, and host Utah State. Villanova will head south for the Cowtown Classic hosted by TCU in Forth Worth, Texas where the Wildcats will play three matches including a meeting with 2018 NCAA Tournament program, High Point.
