DePaul’s Wolf, Seton Hall’s Sager and Fouratt Take Weekly Golf Honors
NEW YORK – DePaul’s Campbell Wolf has been named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week after a strong performance at the NKU Fall Classic and Seton Hall’s Maddie Sager and Sarah Fouratt were named BIG EAST Female Golfers of the Week after tying for medalist honors at the Penn State Invitational.
BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week
Campbell Wolf, DePaul, So. – Wolf led the Blue Demons to a tie for second place at the NKU Fall Classic hosted by Northern Kentucky. The sophomore finished in a tie for third place individually with a 54-hole total of 212. His second-round score of a 4-under 67 matched his collegiate career best score. It was the first top 10 finish of his career.
BIG EAST Female Golfers of the Week
Maddie Sager, Sr., Sarah Fouratt, So., Seton Hall – Sager and Fouratt tied as individual champions with High Point’s Samantha Vodry at the Nittany Lion Invitational. All three golfers finished 2-under-par 214. Sager was 5-under going into the final round. She carded rounds of 69, 70 and 75. Fouratt tied the school’s par-72 single-round record with a 4-under 68 in her final round that included five birdies. The 214 totals set a three-round, par-72 low for Seton Hall. Both golfers picked up their first collegiate titles.
Women’s Notes – Linda Wang of
St. John’s was another BIG EAST golfer who earned medalist honors. Wang won the Boston College Intercollegiate with a 3-over par 219. She entered the final round in third place, but jumped to first after carding a one-under 71. St. John’s finished eighth in the team standings…
Butler junior Ally Ross tied for third place at the MVC Preview. She shot an 82 (+10) in the final round. The junior entered the final 18 holes with a two-shot lead after an even-par 72 in the second round, which matched the Spirit Hollow Golf Course record. Ross finished with a 16-over 232, three shots behind the leader. The Bulldogs placed sixth in the 15-team field at 963 (+99). The field included the entire Missouri Valley Conference…
Creighton also competed at the MVC Preview. Freshman Gabby Tremblay tied for 11th place in a field of 96 golfers. She posted rounds of 79 and 77 before finishing with an 80 for a 54-hole score of 236. Tournament host Northern Iowa won the 15-team tournament with a score of 942. Creighton had a team score of 967…
Georgetown also competed at the Penn State Invitational. The Hoyas finished 10th. Freshman Esther Park tied for 28th with a score of 229 (+13).
Xavier competed in the GolfWeek Conference Challenge with 17 other schools with each school representing a different conference. Mikayla Fitzpatrick was the top XU finisher, tied for 57th. She shot 74-75-78. Fitzpatrick led Xavier in par-4 scoring at 4.07 (+2). Andie Shukow carded 78-76-75 and finished in a tie for 63rd. Shukow shot 1-under on par-3s in the tournament at 2.92. The team placed 16th with a total of 914 (+50). Ole Miss won the tournament at 15-under (849).
Men’s Notes –
Marquette placed seventh at the Trinity Forest Invitational with a 4-over-par 856 (293-283-280). Junior Hunter Eichhorn fired the lowest round of his career with a 6-under 65, which included seven birdies, on the final day of the tourney. He finished with a 2-under 211 (73-73-65) and tied for17th place. Creighton was the top finisher at the SIUE Invitational. He carded a 54-hole score of 220, which tied for 32nd place. The senior posted his second below par score of the season with a 69 in the first round, which also matched his collegiate best. He followed with an 80 in the second round and a 71 in the final round. The Bluejays tied for sixth in the 18-team field.
