Four different Friars (6-3-1, 1-0-0 BIG EAST) scored while Shelby Hogan made six saves as PC topped visiting St. John’s in Saturday night’s BIG EAST opener for both teams. Hannah McNulty’s 17
th-minute score, her fifth goal of the season, proved to be the game winner before Chloe Ortolano, Amber Birchwell and Elayna Grillakis tacked on insurance goals. Zsani Kajan took a team-high three shots for St. John’s. The Red Storm (3-7-0, 0-1-0) held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks while the Friars held a 14-8 edge in shots.

Creighton 2, DePaul 0
Despite an aggressive attack by the visiting Blue Demons (3-5-2, 0-1-0 BIG EAST) who outshot Creighton 20-14, Katie Sullivan earned her third shutout of the season as the Bluejays (7-3-0, 1-0-0) defeated DePaul 2-0 in Omaha on Saturday afternoon. Sullivan finished with seven saves for the clean sheet. Rookie standout Skylar Heinrich notched her eighth goal of the season, third of the game-winning variety, in the 22
nd minute before Kylin Grubb added an insurance goal in the 78
th. Brooke Weitzel took a DePaul-high four shots, while Mollie Eriksson had two saves in the setback.
