BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Amanda Carolan, Georgetown, Grad., F
Carolan claims her second award in the last three weeks with the lone multi-goal outing in the BIG EAST last week. The graduate student scored twice in the 12
th-ranked Hoyas’ 3-0 win over Marquette on Sunday, helping Georgetown to extend its winning streak to a BIG EAST-best five matches. Carolan’s 17 points on the year currently ranks third in the conference, as do her seven goals.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Amanda Kowalski, Butler, R-Jr., D
Kowalski anchored a Butler defense which limited host Seton Hall to just two shots on goal in Sunday’s 3-0 conference road victory. The Bulldogs outshot the Pirates 26-9, including 9-2 on target, while earning 15 corner kicks to SHU’s two. Kowalski added a bit of offense as well, chipping in an assist on Payton Black’s 89
th-minute score. The clean sheet was the fourth of the season for Butler and second in a row.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Katie Sullivan, Creighton, R-So., GK
Returning to the net after being sidelined for two matches last week by a leg injury, Sullivan posted her third shutout of the season in Creighton’s 2-0 win over DePaul. The redshirt-sophomore recorded her second highest save total of the season, collecting six of her seven stops in the second half. In total Sullivan faced 20 shots against the Blue Demons, including eight on frame. The seven stops were the most by a winning BIG EAST goaltender last week.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Anna Leat, Georgetown, Fr., GK
Leat picks up her first weekly accolade after earning a shutout in net in her BIG EAST debut. The rookie netminder made three saves to claim her third shutout of the season while extending her scoreless streak to nearly 260 minutes.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Meaghan Nally, Georgetown, Sr., D
The Nally-led defense limited Marquette to just five total shots and just four on target as the 12
th-ranked Hoyas earned their third consecutive shutout. Georgetown finished with a 20-5 advantage in shots, 14-4 on goal, along with a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
Skylar Heinrich, Creighton, Fr., F
Heinrich notched the 22
nd-minute game winner against DePaul on Saturday for her eighth goal of the season and third of the game-winning variety. Her eight scores rank second in the BIG EAST this season.
Shelby Hogan, Providence, R-Jr., GK
Hogan made six saves in just over 83 minutes of work in the Friars’ 4-0 win over visiting St. John’s on Saturday evening. The win was the third in a row for Providence and four shutout of the year.
Brice McInroy, Villanova, So., M
McInroy provided the offensive heroics for Villanova on Sunday, scoring the game winner in the 57
th minute, beating the XU keeper on a breakaway to give the Wildcats the edge. It marked her third game-winning goal of the season to tie for the BIG EAST lead in the category.
Rebecca Gartner, Villanova, Grad., GK
Gartner made five saves in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Xavier to claim her second shutout of the season. The graduate student was pressured by an aggressive Musketeer attack in the second half, making four saves over the final 45 minutes.
